A conveying apparatus for transport and placement of articles in single file order includes dual parallel infeed conveyors each having an elevating portion for discharging articles onto transverse conveyors whose discharge ends are disposed over elevated discharge conveyors traversing in the opposite direction from the direction of movement of the infeed conveyors. The discharge conveyors include horizontal conveyor runs over which are disposed elongated article guide fences operable to guide articles into single file order but to also force articles not in proper order off of the conveyors into bottomless bins which guide the articles onto the inlet portions of the infeed conveyors for recycling through the apparatus.

Abstract:
Apparatus for transferring pliant articles, such as poultry carcasses or parts thereof, includes a first separator stage comprising a slide plate with spaced apart sets of guides for receiving articles and for conveying the articles toward a second separator stage. The second separator stage comprises a rotary drum with spaced apart hook-like tines which engage articles received from the slide plate for rotation to a position whereby the force of gravity allows the articles to be released from the drum to fall into respective compartments of a third separator stage. The third separator stage includes spaced apart moveable closures which are operated in timed relationship to each other to release the articles onto a conveyor or other apparatus to provide spacing and alignment of the articles generally in single file.

Abstract:
An accumulation and conveyor integrations system is provided which incorporates at least two separated conveying apparatus to convey, accumulate, and meter the output of product onto a downstream line. When a downstream apparatus goes offline, a method of controlling reentry or integration of upstream and downstream lines is provided. The system and method can maximize product output from the downstream line by enabling continued loading of an upstream conveyor at a given rate and subsequent downloading at a temporary increased rate.

Abstract:
An apparatus for placing randomly received items, such as poultry carcasses, in a single file and for placing adjacent single filed items in a substantially equidistant spaced relationship 10 includes a rotatable cone 12 having an outer periphery 14, a conveyor belt 28 disposed about the outer periphery 14 of the rotatable cone 12, a guide wall 64 for effecting disposal of the items in a single file on the conveyor belt, a speedup conveyor section 160 for receiving and accelerating the single filed items, and an inclined conveyor section 162 having a plurality of substantially equidistantly spaced carriers 220 for receiving the items from the speedup conveyor section 160 and placing adjacently received items in a substantially equidistantly spaced relationship to each other.
