Abstract:
The present invention provides a flexible respirator filter having substantially coextensive front and back portions of filter material which are sealed to each other along their periphery, forming a sealed edge. A flexible plastic frame is contained within the front and back portions to form a plenum between the front and back portions of filter material. The frame has a peripheral edge which remains adjacent to the sealed edge of the filter material along substantially the entire length of the sealed edge to provide sufficient rigidity to prevent crushing while at the same time providing sufficient flexibility to fit under other personal protective equipment. A connector for attaching the filter to the respirator mask is formed integrally with the frame such that it protrudes through the back portion of the filter material. A plurality of recesses are also formed integrally with the frame to facilitate grasping the filter without crushing or damaging it.

Abstract:
A device for instructing mathematics includes a work surface and a plurality of movable elements. Each of the movable elements includes, on a front surface thereof, at least a portion of a visible mathematical symbol (including numeric and nonnumeric symbols) thereon readable via eyesight. Each of the movable elements further includes an attachment member on a rearward surface to attach the element to the work surface. The attachment member preferably allows the element to be removed from the work surface and to be slidably positionable to any position on the work surface once attached thereto. The device can further include a frame around the work surface. Preferably, the frame defines a boundary for positioning of the movable elements. In one embodiment, magnetic attraction is used to maintain the attachment member in movable connection with the board.

Abstract:
A method for instructing mathematics includes providing a work surface to a visually impaired student; providing a plurality of movable elements for use in connection with the work surface, each of the movable elements comprising on a front surface thereof at least a portion of a visible mathematical symbol readable via eyesight, each of the movable elements further comprising Braille indicia on the front surface thereof corresponding to the at least a portion of the visible mathematical symbol, each of the moveable elements being movable to any position on the work surface; and having the student arrange a plurality of the moveable element on the work surface to form a standard mathematical expression wherein the mathematical expression comprises multiple lines set forth in a vertical arrangement.

Abstract:
A powered air purifying respirator system for use with at least one filter system includes: a housing including at least one inlet port and at least one outlet port; a motorized air flow system to draw air into the housing via the at least one inlet port; a control system in communicative connection with the motorized air flow system; and a filter system sensor in communicative connection with the control system. The filter system sensor provides information to the control system relating to the type of the at least one filter system upon fluid connection thereof with the housing. The control system can control the motorized air flow system at least in part on the basis of the type of filter system sensed by the filter system sensor. Another powered air purifying respirator system for use with at least one filter system includes: a housing including at least one inlet port and at least one outlet port; a motorized air flow system to draw air into the housing via the at least one inlet port; a control system in communicative connection with the motorized air flow system; and a pressure sensor in communicative connection with the control system to provide information to the control system relating to ambient pressure. The control system can, for example, control the motorized air flow system at least in part on the basis of the information relating to ambient pressure.

Abstract:
A plurality of laterally spaced parallel tapes extend along each side of a strip of filter material in engagement with it, and the sheets and tapes are in accordion folded form so that there is a stack of integrally connected parallel filter sheets spaced apart by the portions of the tapes between them. Each tape has at its side of the stack exposed portions, along which a line of hardened adhesive extends to connect them and form a stiffening band, whereby there are parallel stiffening bands extending across each side of the stack of filter sheets.
A conventional filter pleating machine has a laterally movable pusher bar and a vertically movable stripper bar parallel to it and normally spaced laterally from it above a table, with a vertically movable breaker bar between the other two bars and normally below the table top. The invention lies in providing the lower edges of the pusher bar and the stripper bar with a plurality of longitudinally spaced upwardly extending slots for receiving parallel separator tapes above a filter strip extending along the table beneath those two bars, and also in providing the upper edge of the breaker bar with longitudinally spaced downwardly extending slots for receiving parallel separator tapes below the filter strip when the breaker bar is raised, whereby the pleats in the filter strip will be separated by the separator tapes folded between them.
