Ronald L. Chase is an accomplished Graphic Designer. He is a graduate of The Virginia Commonwealth University (BFA). He has also attended graduate courses at Virginia Tech., The University of Virginia, Catholic University, and The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He serves as Director of the Gum Springs Museum and President of the Historical Society, the only African American Historical Society in Fairfax County Virginia. Gum Springs is the oldest African American community in Fairfax County. The Gum Springs Community can trace its birth to the beginning of our nation. Mr. Chase directs an organization that serves Fairfax County residents, the Washington Metropolitan area and provides historical information to other areas throughout the nation and the world. He is the managing editor of the publication, History In Motion, distributed throughout the nation, and he has written and presented articles to area historical societies. Mr. Chase developed and created the Gum Springs Museum and Cultural Center with a focus on the African American experience, located in the Gum Springs community. Mr. Chase has been President of the GSHS since April 1987. Prior to that Mr. Chase was Vice President of the Society. He has vigorously expanded the programs and services of the Society, i.e. mobile exhibits, TV presentations, historical literature, numerous media coverage, and i.e. local and national news stations and he orchestrated the erection of Historical Road Markers for the community of Gum Springs. The Gum Springs Museum was named twice by the Washingtonian Magazine as one the top ten Museums to visit in the Washington D.C. area. Mr. Chase has served on the Alexandria YMCA Committee of Management, The Board of the Commonwealth of Virginia Preservation Foundation, the African American Interpretation Committee for the historic sits of Gunston Hall and Woodlawn Estates. He has taught technology in the Alexandria Virginia City Schools and Art in Washington DC public Schools. He is the owner of Chase Graphic Communications where managed the Technical Illustration Department for the American Institute of Architects, Architectural Graphic Standards. Mr. Chase has served as Vice President of the Saunders B. Moon Community Action Association, and is a graduate of the Mount Vernon Lee Chamber of Commerce Leadership Forum.
