Abstract:

Methods and apparatus are provided for mechanically preventing overflow of a sump pit into a basement. A cap with a removable cover is placed over a sump pump with a watertight seal. A tall pipe is connected to the cover of the cap, and several auxiliary devices (e.g. egress pipe, faucet, accessory tree, sight tube, and/or alarm apparatus) can be attached to the side of the cap. The volume under the cap and in the pipe may fill with water to provide pressure to prevent further water from entering the sump pit. Water can then be drained the cover removed and the sump pump repaired. In this way, basement flooding through sump pit overflow is inhibited or prevented.

Abstract:

An improved bed-lighting mechanism having a headboard (10) and footboard (11) attached perpendicular to left (12) and right (13) side rails which have left (20) and right (21) cable guards attached beneath and parallel to them, respectively. Four-foot (14A and 14B) and six-foot (17A and 17B) bedposts sandwich four-foot (15) and six-foot (18) fluorescent-light tubes and are attached perpendicular to the corner joint formed by the headboard (10) and footboard (11) to the left (12) and right (13) side rails. End caps (16 and 19) sit atop and below the bedposts (14A, 14B, 17A, and 17B). The fluorescent-light tubes (15 and 18) are encased by protective plastic sheaths (54). A ballast and switch box (55) houses a ballast (25) that powers the two, four-foot fluorescent-light tubes (15) and a ballast (26) that powers the two, six-foot fluorescent-light tubes (18). The ballast and switch box (55) has a power cord (29) and a power/dimmer switch (30) running into it and wiring (31 and 32) threaded through conduit pipe (28) running out of it to power and control the fluorescent-light tubes (15 and 18).

A shuttle has a passageway to receive the fastener, as guided by a flexible tube, in a fastener-receiving position of the shuttle. A driving mechanism enables the fastener to be axially driven from the passageway, through the aperture, in the delivery position of the shuttle. A magnet or a spring, such as a torsional spring having an arm to engage the fastener, is used to retain the fastener in a pre-driving position. As a stand-up tool, the tool has a primary trigger and a secondary trigger, which enables the primary trigger to be remotely actuated.

Abstract:

The present invention generally relates to a process of and apparatus for manufacturing tile mosaics from at least two stone slabs, such as marble or granite slabs. The process comprises the steps of: a) cutting each of the two slabs into a matrix of pieces while maintaining the original orientation of the pieces, b) classifying the pieces of each matrix into two or more sets of pieces, c) intermixing a first set of pieces of one slab with a second set of pieces of another slab while maintaining the original orientation of the pieces, thereby forming the mosaic. The cutting apparatus comprises: a) a platen having a resilient layer for supporting the slab, b) a gantry table saw having a plurality of blades and a rotatable table for supporting the platen, and c) a hold-down rack for securing the slab and platen during cutting. At least two grippers are use to intermix at least one set of pieces from one slab with at least one set of pieces from a second slab to form the mosaic. By mixing the color shades and grain patterns of several different stone slabs, a mosaic having a handset look is achieved.
