Skills:
As an associate, I gained experience in a wide rage of corporate matters. Among other things, my duties included contractual matters, merger & acquisition matters, and drafting disclosure documents covering federal regulatory changes for federally-insured bond issues. I was also responsible for diverse types of civil litigation, including, but not limited to, commercial, banking, employment, accounting malpractice, products liability, officers and directors liability (arising from the failure of several savings and loans), general insurance law and insurance defense matters. As an associate and ultimately a shareholder in the Oxford, Mississippi, office of Mitchell, McNutt, Threadgill, Smith & Sams, my practice focused on a wide-range of civil litigation, including, but not limited to, insurance litigation (general insurance defense and litigation of coverage questions), commercial litigation, banking litigation, employment litigation, professional liability litigation, and product liability litigation. In addition to litigating such matters in state and federal courts, I acquired extensive experience in drafting coverage opinions for a variety of different types of auto, home, life, and commercial insurance policies. As a partner, my practice continued to focus on a wide-range of civil litigation, including, but not limited to, insurance litigation (general insurance defense and litigation of coverage questions), commercial litigation, banking litigation, employment litigation, professional liability litigation, and product liability litigation. In September of 1999, I moved back to Jackson, Mississippi, where I have been a solo practitioner while also working with other attorneys and law firms across the state, primarily for litigation support and legal research, on contract basis.
