Abstract:

A management training game is played with vehicles that are moved around a playing area. The playing area is a large rectangle having a plurality of labeled blocks. Each team includes a leader, who rides on the vehicle, and rope controllers, who manipulate ropes connected to the vehicle, from outside of the playing area. Each team leader receives an assigned route, namely a list of blocks to which the vehicle must travel. Each team then attempts to move its vehicle along its assigned route, in a limited time, and without encountering paralysis due to interference with other vehicles or ropes. The game provides the players with an object lesson in the value of communication, creative thinking, leadership, teamwork, and cooperation, in solving difficult problems.

Abstract:

A game for training of managers includes a playing area having an annular path with color-coded spaces, a material storage area, a set of home bases, and a plurality of small islands. The players are told that the object of the game is to accumulate bridge-building elements from the storage area, and to build bridges to the small islands so as to retrieve and solve a puzzle found on each island. The game is designed to teach the players, in a humorous and non-threatening way, the importance of strategic planning and cooperation among departments of an organization. A portable version of the game is played on a game board which has most of the elements as the large game, in miniature. The portable version does not include the puzzle, but does allow its players to develop strategy and to learn the value of teamwork.

A card game can be played by persons of all ages, with minimal training. The game uses cards that bear numbers and other indicia such as colors. The object of the game is to assemble “successions”, which are sequences of cards, all having the same indicia, and arranged in a numerical sequence which includes all the numbers available on the cards. The first player to assemble such a succession is the winner. A plurality of wild cards can be substituted for cards that are being used to assemble successions, and the use of wild cards therefore greatly enhances the entertainment value of the game. The game allows players to develop intricate strategies for acquiring and placing cards to assemble successions. Abstract:

The instant invention is an innovative device designed to reduce the stress and strain on an individual's back that are associated with the shoveling process. The device is comprised of a shovel receptacle holder, a base plate, a base pad with a hard outer shell that contours to an individual's leg, and straps that hold the assembled device to the leg. The device is practiced by attaching the assembled device to an individual's leg; placing a shovel handle in the shovel receptacle holder; and then engaging in the normal shoveling process. However, instead of using the back to lift the shovel, the device allows the individual to use the fulcrum property to facilitate the shoveling process. This is accomplished by the individual pushing down primarily on the rear part of the shovel handle while lightly lifting the front of the handle thereby lifting the front end of the shovel. In so doing, the lifting is accomplished primarily by the downward motion of the arm, the upper leg, and the fulcrum property of the instant invention and not by an individual's back. A lightweight version of the device is also disclosed wherein the shovel receptacle and shovel receptacle holder are combined into one integrated piece.
