A telephone cord retraction device to be positioned between a base unit and handset of a telephone, and to a telephone provided with such a device. The telephone retraction device includes a spiral spring telephone connector connecting the telephone to a retractable telephone cord of the handset.

Abstract:

A telephone apparatus comprises a telephone cord retraction device positioned between a base unit and a handset of the telephone apparatus. The retraction device includes a housing enclosing a length of telephone cord and a spring assembly, and a male telephone connector located exterior of the housing. The male connector is substantially rigidly connected to a substantially rigid extension that is substantially rigidly connected to the housing of the retraction device. The male telephone connector is disposed within the female telephone connector of the base unit when the retraction device is installed on the base unit.

Abstract:

An electrical cord retraction device including a spring biased reel contained within a housing, a retractable cord stored on the reel, and an electrical connector capable of accommodating relative rotation between the reel and housing. A preferred embodiment of the device includes an electrical connector comprising a set of printed circuit boards with one printed circuit board having concentric rings and the other printed circuit board having electrical contacts. Another embodiment of the device includes an electrical connector defined by a spiral electrical connector, in particular a spiral strip electrical connector. A preferred embodiment is a retractable telephone cord device mounted to or part of a telephone base receiver unit, and/or a handset or headset.
