    System(s) and method(s) are provide to efficiently assess performance of a set of light emitting diode (LED) strings in an illumination system. A multiplexer component collects input signal from the one or more LED strings via a first set of one or more monitoring pins, processes the collected input signal, and extracts at least one output signal. The at least one output signal is conveyed to a demultiplexer component through a second set of one or more monitoring pins, wherein the number of elements in the second set of monitoring pins is equal to or smaller than the number of monitoring pins in the first set. The collected input signal is processed in accordance with at least one mode of operation of the multiplexer component, the mode of operation autonomously configured by the demultiplexer component. The multiplexer component can autonomously generate intelligence on operating status of the set of LED strings.

    A system and methods that provide for battery regeneration in electric vehicles without employing brake blending. Wheel speed sensors provide speed inputs to a controller, for example, that are processed to control the torque commands issued to a motor of the vehicle, which allows a higher level of battery regeneration without causing drive wheels to lock up. In the present invention, speed inputs derived from the wheel speed sensors are sampled. The absolute value of the difference between the input signals derived from the wheel speed sensors is compared to a predetermined difference threshold. If the absolute value of the difference between the input signals is less than the predetermined difference threshold, a regeneration torque command is generated to control the torque output of the motor that is equal to a current value of the regeneration torque command. If the absolute value of the difference between the input signals is greater than or equal to the predetermined difference threshold, a regeneration torque command is generated that is equal to the current value of the regeneration torque command times a reduction scale factor, to reduce the amount of battery regeneration to a level that does not lock up the wheels.

    A system and method that may be implemented in a power inverter or controller, for example, that uses the speed of a rotor to control the torque output of a motor of an electric vehicle. A rotor encoder coupled to the rotor of the motor provides encoder signals that indicate the speed of the rotor and thus the speed of the vehicle. Alternatively, wheel speed sensors may be employed in lieu of the encoder to provide sensed signals that are processed to produce traction control of the vehicle. By monitoring the rate of change of the signals from the encoder or sensor, the controller determines if the drive wheels are spinning due to loss of traction. If this condition is detected, the controller reduces torque until traction has been regained.

    A device employing audio and visual aids for the teaching of reading, arithmetic and the like. The device is to be used with cards having printed indicia and a magnetic strip. The device includes a housing having a microphone, a speaker and a chassis positioned therein. A card path extends across the housing and the chassis. Located on the chassis is a magnetic recording and reproducing head assembly capable of recording and reproducing that which has been recorded on two tracks on the magnetic strip. Separate drive systems are employed for forward and reverse and are also mounted on the chassis. A selector plate is pivotally mounted on the chassis and includes certain rollers associated with both the forward and reverse drive systems such that the selector plate may be pivoted to disengage the forward drive system and simultaneously engage the reverse drive system to return a card to its starting position. A system on-off switch extends to the card path so the system will be activated by the placement of a card in the card path. The placement of the head assembly is controlled by a cam such that the head may be moved laterally across the card path for the selection of one of two tracks.
