Abstract:

A traveling valve assembly is provided for use in subsurface gravity type pumping systems and is responsive to reciprocating motion to manipulate a rotary valve head relative to a valve seat between open and closed positions, and to fluid pressure to manipulate a ball member and a slidable seal member relative to seat members between open and closed positions. Reciprocating motion is converted to rotary motion by means of a journaled spiral groove portion of the rotary valve member. The traveling valve assembly is provided with multiple seals to prevent high pressure gas from blowing through the pump when pumping oil.

Abstract:

A kit for replacing existing incandescent fixtures with a 2 D fluorescent fixture includes a plate with a ballast/transformer on the upper surface and a 2 D lamp socket on the lower surface. The ballast/transformer is coupled to the source of power through a separable connector which can be terminated either in an electrical plug which fits into an existing socket or, using conventional wire nut connectors, can be "hard wired" into place. Spring hangers, which can be attached to existing housing features, are loosely held to the upper surface of the plate so that in a first orientation, the plate is below the housing and access may be had to the housing interior and in a second orientation, the plate is held secure against the housing. A diffuser globe can be provided for installations which are not recessed.

Abstract:

A housing for mounting electrical fixtures behind surfaces such as walls and ceilings, includes a surface flange and a plurality of pairs of axially directed slots in the side wall. When inserted in a hole in a ceiling or wall until the housing flange is flush with the wall or ceiling surface, a pair of spring elements are compressed and inserted through a pair of slots which allow the springs to bear against the slot and interior surface of the ceiling or wall to hold the flange flush.

Abstract:

A five-component strain gauge balance for measuring the forces and moments exerted on a reflection plane model aircraft in a subsonic continuous-duty or blow down wind tunnel. The balance beams are arranged in a diamond pattern so that the rolling moment reactions are concentrated in the side beams making the axial force, normal force and yawing moment felt by the forward and aft beams more accurately measurable. The entire balance is machined from a single piece of material, ensuring maximum repeatability of measurements. This design also simplifies fabrication and provides better access for gauging.

Abstract:

A rotary traveling valve for subterranean pumping system is disclosed herein. The traveling valve includes a rotary lock configured for back and forth rotary motion in response to up stroke and down stroke movements of a driver. The bottom face of the rotary lock rests against a seating face of a housing of the valve, and a fluid passage in the seating face is opened due to rotary motion of the rotary lock during a down stroke movement of the driver, and closed during an up stoke movement of the driver. The bottom face of the rotary lock is pressed against the sealing face by a back pressure spring to prevent excessive bottom pressure to cause pumping interruption due to gas and fluid blow-by through the valve. It also compensates for any wear that may take place on the two surfaces. In addition traveling valve incorporates bearing balls to minimize friction between moving parts such as driver and housing as well as between driver and rotary lock.
