Abstract:

Provided are methods of determining whether a compound is an inhibitor of an S protein. The methods utilize a biosensor that comprises the S protein that has a covalently bound fluorescent dye at an amino acid residue of the S protein that becomes less exposed to the aqueous solution upon activation of the S protein, where the fluorescent dye has decreased fluorescence when exposed to the aqueous solution than when protected from exposure to the aqueous solution. Also provided are methods of treating a subject having metastatic cancer.
