A biofunctional dental implant system for affixing a crown to an implant socket that is made in the bone structure within the mouth of a dental patient. A root portion is initially anchored within the implant socket made in the patient's bone structure. According to a first embodiment of this invention, the crown is secured to the root portion by a flexible abutment post. According to a second embodiment, the crown is secured to the root portion by a hollow abutment tube. The dental implant system of this invention is capable of increasing bone/implant stabilization and providing a supply path through which to evenly distribute human growth factor to the bone structure surrounding the root portion. The system also enables the crown to have a selectively controllable mobility relative to the root portion that is anchored within the implant socket so as to advantageously function like a natural tooth.
An easy to install tooth spreading and uprighting device that is positioned on a temporary basis across an edentulous space between a pair of teeth in the mouth of a dental patient to correct and prevent the teeth from tipping and loosing their upright alignment which awaiting the implantation of a dental crown. The size of the tooth spreading and uprighting device is selectively adjustable depending upon the spacing between the patient's teeth so as to establish a tight fit and thereby apply a suitable holding pressure to prevent a misalignment of the teeth while awaiting the installation of the dental crown to replace a natural tooth which has been removed from the patient's mouth. The size of the tooth spreading and uprighting device is selectively adjustable by an inner body that is received within and slidable axially through a hollow outer body. An optional locking feature is provided to prevent a displacement of the inner body relative to the outer body.
A biofunctional dental implant wherein a crown portion is connected to a root portion without the use of the conventional short screws, or the like. A flexible abutment projects upwardly from the root portion, and the crown portion is positioned in surrounding engagement with the flexible abutment. A threaded abutment post is advanced through the flexible abutment and into receipt by the root portion. The advancement of the abutment post through the flexible abutment generates an outward pushing force for causing a plurality of flexible splines of the abutment to bend outwardly and into engagement with an elastomeric cap of the crown portion for holding the crown portion atop the root portion. In one preferred embodiment, a replacement crown portion is detachably connected to an existing root portion by way of a removable abutment screw so as to enable a broken or worn crown portion to be removed and replaced without the need for a new surgery.
A compact, easily transportable dental system to permit root and root tip extractions from human and animal patients including those who are unable to visit an oral surgeon or veterinarian at a traditional office. An extraction bur having a lifting ball is embedded within and stands upwardly from the root or root tip to be extracted. The extraction bur is detachably connected to and rotated into the root/tip by a bur implanting device. A bur ejector is slidable through the bur implanting device to cause the extraction bur to be released therefrom once the bur has been implanted in the patient's root/tip. A universal fulcrum tray covers the root/tip and surrounds the patient's adjacent teeth during the extraction process. The upstanding extraction bur and the lifting ball thereof project through one of a pair of slots formed in the universal fulcrum tray. An extracting instrument having a pivot surface rotates over the universal fulcrum tray to apply a lifting force to the lifting ball of the extraction bur to pull the bur upwardly and the root/tip outwardly from its root socket.
Oscillating Blade For Cutting Periodontal Ligaments And Luxating Tooth Roots
A cutting blade having a pair of razor-sharp cutting edges and adapted to be oscillated back and forth in order to cut through the periodontal ligaments which surround a tooth root of a patient during dental surgery so that the root or a portion of a tooth root can be removed from the patient's jawbone. The cutting blade has a connecting shaft at one end by which the blade can be coupled to the driver head of an oscillating dental handpiece. Located opposite the connecting shaft is a cutting end having a tissue debris transfer canal at the bottom or inside thereof and a smooth tissue gliding surface at the top or outside. A positioning collar surrounds the connecting shaft to provide to the oral surgeon a visual indication of the alignment of the pair of cutting edges of the cutting blade relative to the tissue to be cut.
Implant Bone Locking Mechanism And Artificial Periodontal Ligament System
An implant bone locking mechanism and artificial periodontal ligament system having a hollow implant casing and a set of stabilizing locking pins that are initially retracted within the casing. A pin activator is moved axially through the hollow implant casing to cause the locking pins to move outwardly therefrom and bore into the patient's bone structure in which the implant casing is located to enable immediate bone implant and increase bone/implant stabilization. A locking basket has a pair of outstretched arms and a plurality of locking splines that are coupled to the pin activator and the implant casing to prevent a rotation of the pin activator and implant casing relative to the locking basket and each other. An irremovable crown is seated upon the locking basket and adapted for both lateral movement along the outstretched arms of the locking basket and up and down movement relative to the locking basket so as to function like a natural tooth and improve the quality of mastication.
