Abstract:
A lead retention and sealing system for an implantable medical device comprises a lead receiving channel with an open end for slidably receiving a connecting end of an electrical lead and a closed end not open to an inner sealed portion of the medical device. The connecting end of the lead does not break the seal of the medical device. The receiving channel includes an electrical contact electrically connected with circuitry hermetically sealed within the medical device for mating contact with a respective portion of the lead when moved to a connecting position. A flexible seal mounted in the receiving channel sealingly engages the outer peripheral surface of the lead and retains the lead at the connecting position. It is so shaped that insertion of the lead into the receiving channel requires less force than its removal from the channel and includes an annular ring member extending toward the longitudinal axis of the channel from an outer annular base to an inner annular lip for initial engagement with the electrical lead as the lead is moved toward the connecting position. The inner annular lip is closer to the closed end of the receiving channel than the outer annular base.

Abstract:
A wireless feedthrough assembly, for coupling leads received in the receptacles of a connector assembly to the electronic circuit within a cardiac pacemaker, includes a weld ring mounted in hermetically sealed fashion within a housing wall of the pacemaker and itself hermetically sealed to an intermediate portion of an elongated, multilayered structure. The multilayered structure includes layers of electrically insulating ceramic material on opposite sides of a planar array of printed conductors extending between a first portion of the structure within the connector assembly and an opposite second portion of the structure within the pacemaker. Connector pads at the ends of the printed conductors within the first portion are coupled to the receptacles of the connector assembly, while contact pads at the exterior of the second portion and coupled by vias to connector pads at the ends of the printed conductors are coupled to the electronic circuits within the pacemaker. Printed ground planes on the multilayered structure form a conductive envelope which shields the printed conductors from electric fields. The contact pads include positive and ground contacts to which are coupled discrete filtering capacitors for limiting the spectrum of frequencies receivable by the connector assembly.

Abstract:
A drug delivery safety system includes a programmer with a display and a communications device adapted to communicate with an ambulatory medical device. The programmer has access to a database of information, and is adapted to receive and process the information and a user input and to control the display to provide a graphical user interface that prompts a user of the programmer to provide an additional user input when the user input requests a drug delivery protocol for the ambulatory medical device that is not already stored in the database as a clinician-approved drug delivery protocol.

About:
Scott Gibson was born and raised in Southern California. Upon graduating from U.C.L.A. with a BS in Political Science in 1978, Scott entered real estate sales on the Westside of Los Angeles. In 1983, Scott entered the management ranks and eventually bought his own real estate business in 1988, which included escrow and mortgage. After weathering the early 90’s, Scott sold his business to Prudential California Realty and went back to managing branch offices, eventually rising within the ranks of that company to an executive vice president position upon the merger of the two largest companies in the nation, the Jon Douglas Company and Prudential California Realty. In 1997, the Jon Douglas Company was acquired by then HFS (to become Cendant then Realogy), with Scott assuming Regional Vice President duties of the Westside of Los Angeles 22 offices including Beverly Hills, Malibu, and Montecito/ Santa Barbara under the Coldwell Banker name. Scott quickly rose through the ranks in the new company assuming the general managership of all of Southern California’s 120 offices, then becoming President of Los Angeles and its 23 billion in sales, eventually moving east to work for the parent company, NRT/Cendant on a national basis, running the Northeast region and five operating companies from Boston to Palm Beach. Scott’s many achievements include developing the award winning Concierge service, developing strategies for the real estate offices of the future, initiating management development programs, and developing innovative technologies designed to create a better and more efficient way for real estate to be bought and sold. Scott has been married 26 years, has three girls, and a grandson with another on the way. As an active outdoorsman, Scott has successfully participated and coached both in baseball and basketball. Scott currently resides on the Westside of Los Angeles
