Abstract:

An electrification system for removable vehicle seats, includes electrical contacts located on the vehicle and electrical contacts located on the removable seat. Coupling members are provided for selectively installing the seat to the vehicle and for removing the seat to provide additional cargo space. In the preferred embodiment, the electrical contacts are arranged so that when the seat is installed, the contacts engage one another to provide power to the rear seat which in turn can be used with a variety of electrical devices, including seat heaters, seat ventilation devices, computers, entertainment or educational systems, illumination devices, and the like. In this embodiment, the electrical contacts on the vehicle are provided in the wells into which the seat coupling components fit and the contacts on the seat are located near the seat coupling members. The seat is hooked over rods within the well and rotated to its installed position. In such position, the seat is powered.

Abstract:

A vehicle accessory and friction damper includes a rotatable member for rotating relative a stationary mount. The rotatable member includes a pivot axle including a circumferential arcuate channel. The stationary mount includes a cylindrical bearing for journaling the pivot axle. An O-ring is seated in the arcuate channel of the pivot axle and interposed between the pivot axle and the cylindrical bearing dampens rotation of the rotatable member relative to the stationary member, whereby the vehicle accessory moves from a first position to a second position in a controlled manner.

Abstract:

A seat module electrification system includes electrical contacts on the seat and electrical contacts on the module. In the preferred and illustrated embodiment the electrical terminals on the seat comprise conductive strips located proximate a pocket adapted to receive the module and the electrical terminals on the module comprise formed terminals having a conductive tip, the module terminals being arranged to engage the strips when the module is placed in the pocket. The module may be attached to the pocket in a variety of ways including a mechanical latch system or other fasteners. In one illustrated form of the invention, a switch is provided so that power does not pass to the strips unless the module is attached to the seat.

Abstract:

An electrification system for use with an article slidably supported on a track within a vehicle is provided. The electrification system comprises a conductor assembly including a positive conductive interface supported parallel and adjacent to a negative conductive interface. The conductor assembly is configured to extend substantially the length of the track. The electrification system further comprises a contact assembly including a positive contact in electrical communication with the positive conductive interface and a negative contact in electrical communication with the negative conductive interface. The contact assembly is configured to be fixed relative to the article. The contact assembly remains in electrical communication with the conductor assembly as the article is selectively moved along the track to provide continuous electrical power to the article as the article is moved.

Abstract:

A pitch bearing and related method for wind electric turbines has an annularly-shaped first bearing ring connected with an associated wind turbine blade, and includes a first raceway groove. An annularly-shaped second bearing ring is connected with the rotor portion of the wind turbine, and includes a second raceway groove aligned with the first raceway groove. Rolling elements are positioned in the first and second raceway grooves to rotatably interconnect the two bearing rings. A gear segment is formed on one of the bearing rings, and is configured to engage a pitch drive portion of the wind turbine to pivot the blade axially between different pitch angles. The gear segment has an arcuate measure of less than 200 degrees to facilitate economical manufacture.

Abstract:

A method for making a robot pivot arm assembly includes forming from a rigid, machinable material a circular disk, and forming a circular aperture through the center of the disk. An outer bearing track is formed integrally in the inside surface which defines the aperture, and the apertured disk is positioned in a machining device with a fixturing portion that engages the outer bearing track. An integral outer race, an arm and a gear segment with teeth are then machined into the disk to form the outer portion of the pivot arm assembly. An inner race with an inner bearing track is positioned inside the integral outer race, and rolling bearing elements are inserted into the first and second bearing tracks.
