Abstract:
An advanced intelligent network telephone system for terminating calls to subscribers to a privacy screening service, when the calling party has a private telephone number. Privacy screening services allow a subscriber to manage and monitor incoming telephone calls, such that unwanted calls are not terminated to the subscriber. When a calling party dials the telephone number of a subscriber to a privacy screening service, the system manages the call according to whether the calling party number is known and public, known and private, or unknown. If the calling party number is known and public, the call is routed to the subscriber. If the calling party is known and private, the call is routed to a service node, which plays an announcement to the calling party, asking the calling party for permission to override his or her privacy. If the calling party agrees, the service node dials a customized dialing plan (CDP) code that triggers an info_analyzed query from the service nodes service switching point (SSP) to a service control point (SCP). If the calling party is unknown, the service node asks the calling party to record his or her name.

Abstract:
An advanced intelligent network system for managing and routing telephone calls from a calling party to a subscriber to a privacy screening service. The system routes the calls according to whether the calling party number is known and public, in which case the call is terminated in a routine manner; unknown, in which case the system plays an announcement asking the calling party to record his or her name; or known and private, in which case the system asks the caller for permission to override his or her privacy before routing the call to the subscriber. The advanced intelligent network system stores the subscribers number in a display text field, thus enabling termination of the call to the subscriber irrespective of whether the subscriber number is private or public.

Abstract:
A privacy screening service in an Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) includes a service node which records a callers name when a call directed to a subscriber of the service originates at an unknown number. The service node, in turn, places a call to the subscriber and transmits the recorded name together with a signal which is recognizable by a voice mail system. Following the transmission, the service node waits for the subscriber either to accept or reject a call from the caller. When the subscribers line is answered by a voice mail system, the voice mail system recognizes and acknowledges the signal so that the voice mail system and service node may determine that their call is between two machines and may take appropriate action. One such action is to connect the caller to the subscribers voice mail and to restart the subscribers outgoing voice mail greeting.

Abstract:
An advanced intelligent network privacy screening service that allows callers provided with a bypass code to bypass the privacy screening. A termination attempt trigger is provisioned on the subscribers line at a service switching point. When callers from private or unknown numbers call the subscriber, the call is routed to a service node that plays an announcement to the caller to start the privacy screening process. The caller can then enter the bypass code to bypass the privacy screening. A subscriber to the privacy screening service can change his or her bypass code by calling a system administration number, and entering his or her password and bypass code.

Abstract:
Systems and methods allowing a third-party to redirect a telephone call according to an intended call recipients preferences are disclosed. Calls received at a switch for a subscriber are suspended while a query is sent via AIN or other data networks to a communications center device associated with the called party number. If the call is intended for another user of the subscribers telephone, a third party, the actual recipient of the call notification may redirect the call to the intended user without directly interfacing with the calling party. The user may select one or more options provided to route the call according to predefined profile information provided by the intended call recipient.
System And Method For Routing A Call To A Voice Mail System

Abstract:
Routing a call to a voice mail system using subscriber information maintained in a database associated with a service control point. Once a call is received by the service node and the service node determines that a voice mail call should be originated, the service node sends a message including a voice mail indicator and a subscriber identifier to the service switching point. The service switching point uses the subscriber identifier to query the service control point for routing information. The service control point determines the voice mail access number associated with the subscriber using a database associated with the service control point. The service control point responds to the service switching point by providing the voice mail access number associated with the subscriber and setting the original called party number and the last redirecting party number to the directory number of the subscriber. The service switching point completes the call from the service node to the voice mail system using the information provided by the service control point.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for obtaining capacity in the storage of an intelligent peripheral or other network element for additional entries without losing information relating to entries that have already been held in the storage. Such capacity is obtained by selecting certain entries from the storage, by sending the entry information as opposed to the certain entries to a repository, and by deleting the certain entries from the storage. Also, methods and apparatus are provided to retrieve the entry information that has been sent to the repository when such entry information is needed. Further, methods and apparatus are provided to update as necessary the entry information that has been sent to the repository.

Abstract:
A cellular telephone system is provided with a process and apparatus for screening an incoming call. The process is carried out by, and the apparatus comprises, a service provider ( ) and a mobile station ( ). The mobile station ( ) answers the incoming call and places the call on hold. The mobile station ( ) connects to the service provider ( ) and places the service provider ( ) and the incoming caller on multi-party hold. The mobile station ( ) then signals the service provider ( ) to begin screening the call. In response, the service provider ( ) prompts the incoming caller for the incoming callers identification and then communicates this information to the mobile station ( ). Based on this information, the mobile station ( ) can elect to accept or reject the incoming call.
