Abstract:

A method of terminating a fiber in a connector, the method comprising: (a) securing a stripped fiber to a device; (b) while the fiber is secured to the device, cleaving the fiber to produce a cleaved fiber; (c) securing a connector having a stub to the device; (d) while the connector and the fiber are secured to the device, inserting the cleaved fiber into the connector such that the cleaved fiber mates with the stub; (e) and securing the fiber to the connector.

Abstract:

A global positioning system (GPS) receiver may be integrated with a tide display device. The GPS receiver receives satellite signals and determines the precise time and geodetic position by trilateration. The precise time and geodetic position is used by the tide display device to determine the appropriate tide information to display. The tide display device displays the tide information to a surfer on a graph display with the ordinate axis representing tide height and the abscissa axis representing time.

Abstract:

The disclosure generally relates to an apparatus for securing and adjusting a watch strap. In an exemplary embodiment, the disclosure relates to a wrist watch having a watch strap closing system that allows a watch strap with saw teeth to be locked and secured in place by a locking mechanism having complimentary saw teeth. The watch strap can move in one direction in order to tighten the watch strap around the user's wrist, but is prevented from moving in an opposite direction. To release or loosen the watch strap, the user can apply pressure to disengage the locking mechanism.

Abstract:

A simulated vacuum tube and vacuum tube apparatus which employs solid-state components within a vacuum tube enclosure. A transparent or translucent glass or plastic tubular enclosure contains and isolates an operating environment. This unique enclosure creates a visually pleasing device while also providing an independently managed environment that may be entirely isolated from the primary outer enclosure of the equipment. In addition, the transparent or translucent tube permits transmission of optical signals, visual indicators and displays, as well as visual inspection of components and printed circuit boards for troubleshooting and repair. Several different illustrative embodiments are disclosed herein.

Abstract:

The invention pertains to a system for mounting components to a rack comprising brackets that can be mounted to the rear of the rack through the opening in the front of rack before the component is inserted into the slot, which brackets fit into mating sleeves running along the sides of the components. The brackets include arms that extend forwardly towards the front of the slot. After the brackets are attached, the component can be slid into the slot from the front with the sleeves sliding over and engaging the brackets, thereby providing support for the component along a substantial portion of the depth of the component without the need to fixedly attach the component to the bracket after the component is in the rack. Accordingly, a component can be installed in a rack without the need for any access except from the front of the rack.
