Abstract:

An electrical connector includes a shield having opposed planar side panels. The shield is configured to receive a shield of a mating connector within the side panels. A dielectric is attached to the shield. The dielectric is configured to receive the coaxial cable and the shield is electrically connected to an outer conductor of the coaxial cable. The side panels are configured to abut and engage side panels of an adjacent connector with a substantially flush fit to form a row of connectors to be located in an outer housing. A separate strain relief member may be attached to the shield. Each of the shield and the strain relief member may include an IDC feature that pierces the cable insulation.

Abstract:

A coaxial cable connector includes a connector housing configured to receive a coaxial cable having inner and outer conductors, and a ground shield including a plurality of walls cooperating to define a shielded chamber. The connector housing is received within the shielded chamber, and the walls are configured to be connected to the outer conductor of the coaxial cable. The coaxial cable connector also includes a center blade contact having a flat planar body, wherein the center blade contact is configured to be connected to the inner conductor of the coaxial cable. The center blade contact is supported by the connector housing between the walls of the ground shield in a stripline geometry. At least one of the walls includes a compensating tab extending inward therefrom, wherein the compensating tab is configured to be positioned proximate at least one of the center blade contact and the inner conductor of the coaxial cable.

Abstract:

A cable assembly is provided and includes a cable core including a first signal conductor and a second signal conductor separated by at least one insulator. The first signal conductor includes a first exposed segment extending forward of the first insulator to a first conductor end. The second signal conductor includes a second exposed segment extending forward of the second insulator to a second conductor end. The cable has a cable shield surrounding the cable core providing electrical shielding along a length of the cable. The cable assembly includes a contact holder extending between a front and a rear. The contact holder is located forward of the cable. The contact holder has contact channels extending between the front and the rear. The cable assembly includes a first contact received in the corresponding channel of the contact holder. The first contact has a mating end and a terminating end. The cable assembly includes a second contact received in the corresponding channel of the contact holder. The second contact has a mating end and a terminating end. The terminating end has a second weld edge welded to the second conductor end at a second butt weld.

Abstract:

An electrical connector includes a front housing having a front and a rear. The front housing is configured to hold signal contacts and has a cavity at the rear. The front is configured to be mated with the mating connector. A conductive insert is received in the cavity. The conductive insert includes end walls and cross walls extending between the end walls. The conductive insert includes channels between the cross walls configured to receive ground shields used to provide electrical shielding for the signal contacts. The cross walls are configured to be electrically coupled to the corresponding ground shields. The conductive insert is configured to electrically couple each of the ground shields.
