Abstract:

A method for quickly and accurately identifying a digital file, specifically one that represents an audio file. The identification can be used for tracking royalty payments to copyright owners. A database stores features of various audio files and a globably unique identifier (GUID) for each file. Advantageously, the method allows a database to be updated in the case of a new audio file by storing its features and generating a new unique identifier for the new file. The audio file is sampled to generate a fingerprint that uses spectral residuals and transforms of Haar wavelets. Advantageously, any label used for the work is automatically updated if it appears to be in error.

Abstract:

A system for media recognition includes a media storage device having first and second storage components for storing segment lengths and fingerprint identifiers and fingerprint and fingerprint identifiers, respectively. Fingerprint and segment length information is extracted from the media storage device to derive a media description packet comprising one or more fingerprints and segment length information. The fingerprint and segment length packet in the media description packet is resolved and associated metadata, if any, is returned. If a matching segment record is not found for the media description packet, additional segment fingerprints and user input of associated metadata are requested.

Abstract:

A method and system for generating an acoustic fingerprint of a digital audio signal is presented. A received digital audio signal is downsampled, based upon a predetermined frequency, and then subdivided into a beginning portion, a middle portion and an end portion. A plurality of beginning frames, a plurality of middle frames and a plurality of end frames, each having a predetermined number of samples, are extracted from the beginning, middle and end portions of the downsampled, digital audio signal, respectively. A plurality of frame vectors, each having a plurality of spectral residual bands and a plurality of time domain features, are generated from the plurality of beginning, middle and end frames, and an acoustic fingerprint of the digital audio signal is created based on the plurality of frame vectors. The acoustic fingerprint is then stored in a database.

Abstract:

Method and system provided for creating a dynamic playlist including meta-data having potential association with a respective content item configured to be played on a content player, and having dynamic addition of subtraction of playlist items. The system maintains a database of linkages between elements associated with content items as well as weighted linkages between elements and respective properties. The system is a hybrid content based and collaborative filtering system, wherein the insertion of a new item into the database results in the new item sharing preference weights and number of preferences associated with items pre-existing in the database. Thus, an initial input query list of items potentially results in the return of many content, called a âdynamic playlistâ, has a high correlation with the users preference or with whatever other basis was used to frame the input list, and individual content items on the dynamic playlist may not have been previously experienced by the user.
