Abstract:

A portable hoist for suspending a load, which may be an animal. The portable animal hoist may include a telescopic arm rotatable about a base. The base may be configured to be releasably attachable to many devices, one of which may be a receiver hitch on a vehicle. A winch may be attached to the telescopic arm for supporting a load. The telescopic arm may also include one or more pulleys for supporting a cable coupled to the winch. The portable hoist may be used to transport animals while being suspended by the hoist.

A harness system for supporting a person off of a ground surface. The harness system may include a seat supported by a strap attached to the seat. The strap may form one or more leg containing loops for keeping a person securely positioned in the harness. The harness may also include a climbing strap for securing the harness loosely to a support device, such as a tree, while a person climbs a support device. The harness may be secured to a person by tightening a waist strap around the person's waist. The harness system may include one or more modular pouches releasably coupled to the harness enabling the harness to be customized for a particular use. A shoulder strap may be used to prevent a user from falling out of the harness and to support the harness.

Abstract:

A fall arrest system formed from a suspension seat supported by a plurality of shoulder straps coupled to an adjustable waist belt is disclosed. The suspension seat formed from a platform that is suspended beneath the adjustable waist belt such that the suspension seat is positioned generally vertically with straps that include breakable connections. During a fall, the breakable connections break and the suspension seat falls into a horizontal position to support a person about which the fall arrest system is attached. During the fall, a self extraction ladder may also be deployed. The fall arrest system may also include fabric layers attached to front and rear sides of shoulder straps. In addition, the side areas under a user's arms between the front and rear sides are open.
