Abstract:
A system and method for optimizing spectrum access in data communications is disclosed. The system comprises a case module, a selection engine, an evaluation module and an update module. The case module determines a present case based at least in part on sensor data and environmental data, determines a matching case for the present case and configures one or more channel profiles for the present case based at least in part on the matching case. The selection engine selects a first channel based on the one or more channel profiles. The first channel is associated with a first channel profile from the one or more channel profiles. The evaluation module evaluates a first channel performance for the first channel and generates a first channel reward for the first channel. The update module updates the first channel profile based at least in part on the first channel reward.

Abstract:
An online system selects a number of content items and presents the selected content items through a feed to a target user, where each selected candidate content item is likely to cause the target user to post his/her new content in response to the selected candidate content item within a short period of time. The online system selects the candidate content items for presentation through the feed using a trained post session prediction model. A ranking score for a candidate content item is determined based on a probability value indicating likelihood that the candidate content item causes the target user to post new content. The probability value is determined by applying a trained model to user features of the target user and content features of the candidate content item. The online system ranks the candidate content items based on their ranking scores and present the feed to the target user.
Examples allocate and schedule use of graphics processing unit (GPU) resources among a plurality of users executing virtual machines (VMs) or processes. During initialization, shares representing proportional access to the GPU resources are assigned and then adjusted based on graphics command characteristics. Quantum is allocated among the VMs based on the shares. At runtime, graphics commands from the VMs are queued and iteratively sent to the GPU based on a comparison between allocated quantum and a threshold quantum. In this manner, the GPU resources are fairly shared among the VMs.

Examples of the disclosure assign a plurality of graphics processing units (GPUs) to a plurality of virtual machines (VMs) or processes. A composite score is generated for each GPU. The composite score represents the normalized processing capabilities of the multiple GPUs. Based on a comparison between the composite scores and allocated quantum corresponding to a proportional amount of GPU resources to which each VM is entitled, each VM is assigned to at least one of the GPUs. Graphics commands from the VMs are scheduled for execution by the assigned GPUs.
