Abstract:

An osmotic beneficial agent delivery system includes an implantable osmotic delivery device and a catheter for delivery of the beneficial agent from the delivery device to a delivery location. The beneficial agent delivery system includes a catheter and a docking station which are implanted in the patient with a distal end of the catheter positioned at a delivery site. The catheter and docking station are left in place while an implant containing the beneficial agent is removably connected to the catheter at the docking station and can be replaced as needed. The docking station provides a connection between a catheter and the implant allowing the implant to be replaced periodically while the catheter and the docking station remain in place.

Abstract:

In a filter assembly having a bandpass filter and a group-delay equalizer coupled thereto by a circulator, there is disposed in the filter and/or the equalizer an electromagnetic wave propagation structure having a cavity with a plurality of tuning elements extending therein. The wave-propagation structure supports a first wave propagating in a first mode and a second wave propagating in a second mode. A first of the tuning elements is positioned to interact with the first wave, a second of the tuning elements is positioned to interact with the second wave, and a third of the tuning elements is positioned for coupling electromagnetic energy between the first wave and the second wave. A fourth of the tuning elements has an orientation perpendicular to an orientation of the third tuning element. Each of the first, the second and the third tuning elements is essentially non-lossy while the fourth tuning element is lossy for obtaining improved flatness of a spectral characteristic of amplitude versus frequency to electromagnetic waves propagating through the filter assembly. A ceramic resonator is located on a central axis of the cavity, and each of the tuning elements is directed toward the central axis. Each of the tuning elements may be constructed as screws for adjustment of depths of penetration of the screws into the cavity for interaction with the electromagnetic waves.

Abstract:

A microwave filter cavity that exhibits spurious mode suppression. The microwave filter comprises a metal mode suppression tuning stub located in a replaceable iris plate that is used to suppress unwanted transverse magnetic (TM) modes of the filter cavity, The mode suppression stub is disposed normal to an end wall of the cavity. The mode suppression stub perturbs the E-field of transverse magnetic modes, while having negligible effect on desired transverse electric (TE) modes. The addition of the tuning stub has no effect on filter performance determined by transverse electric modes.

Suspending vehicles and pharmaceutical suspensions that include a biocompatible polymer that can be combined with a hydrophobic solvent and a hydrophilic solvent to provide vehicles and suspensions that are substantially free of stiff gels upon contact with an aqueous medium are provided. Vehicles and suspensions remain flowable out of a pump-driven dosage form over the life of the dosage form. Formulations and methods are provided for improving the stability upon exposure to aqueous media of polypeptides present in non-aqueous suspension vehicles. In particular aspects of the invention, formulations are provided that comprise a complex of a metal ion and a polypeptide suspended in a non-aqueous, biocompatible suspension vehicle.
