Abstract:

Administration of a modulator of cell cycle checkpoint activation, which is preferably β-lapachone, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, prodrug, metabolite, analog or derivative thereof, protects normal cells against radiation injury. The invention includes methods of preventing radiation damage. The invention also provides methods for treating conditions such as cancer with radiotherapy, by administering a modulator of cell cycle checkpoint activation to a subject, prior to administration of radiotherapy.

Abstract:

A multi-link intercom system having a large number of stations selectively connected to one of eight links by respective station controllers. When a calling station goes off-hook, its station controller connects the station to the first available link during the one of four link access periods corresponding to that link. The calling station then applies appropriate signals to the link identifying the called station. These signals are decoded by a link controller for the link which generates called station address signals during its corresponding link access period. All of the link controllers generate called station address signals on the same bus, but the signals are time multiplexed to occur during a portion of each link access period corresponding to each link. The station controller for the called station recognizes its address and connects its station to the link corresponding to the portion of the link access period in which the station address was received. Two-way communication between the calling and called station is then effected.

Abstract:

In implementations of a pressure lock retention fastener, the fastener assembly includes an insert sized for insertion into a fastener hole in a first panel. The fastener assembly has a threaded collet sized to slide in the insert and has expandable flanges that extend below the insert. The expandable flanges are sized for insertion into an aligned hole in a second panel. The fastener assembly also includes a screw installable through the insert to engage the threaded collet. The screw exerts a force that pushes the expandable flanges outward as screw rotation drives the screw into the threaded collet, and ridge locks of the expandable flanges seat up against the second panel effective to fasten the panels together. In implementations, a plate is installable between the panels with slotted holes having anti-rotation tabs that prevent a fastener assembly from spinning in the panel holes.

Abstract:

An overlay network is enhanced to provide traffic delivery using anycast and end user mapping. An anycast IP address is associated with sets of forwarding machines positioned in the overlay network. These locations correspond with IP addresses for zero rated billing traffic. In response to receipt at a forwarding machine of a packet, the machine issues an end user mapping request to the mapping mechanism. The mapping request has an IP address associated with the client from which the end user request originates. The mapping mechanism resolves the request and provides a response to the request. The response is an IP address associated with a set of server machines distinct from the forwarding machine. The forwarding machine encapsulates the packet and proxies the connection to the identified server. The server receives the connection, decapsulates the request, and processes the packet. The server machine responds to the requesting client directly.
