Abstract:
An apparatus and method for compressing and compressing text based messages. A TCCB layer is added to a mobile device and P-CSCF At the sending device, the TCCB compression method is invoked to remove all redundant header information contained in a message to be transmitted. When the TCCB compression method detects that a headers contents are the same as previously sent or received for a particular sequence, the TCCB method blanks the header contents. At the receiving device, when the TCCB layer receives a message with blank header contents, the TCCB decompression method is invoked to reconstruct the header from its cache.
A personal home location register (HLR) () is modifiable directly by a user. The personal HLR then communicates with a telecommunications service provider () to directly affect changes in the personal HLR. The network HLR () of the telecommunications service provider simply points to the personal HLR of the user.
A distributed home location register (DHLR) (-) authorizes roaming services agreement electronically for a user () in a foreign network (). A home network has a network HLR which records the roaming agreement and charges for billing user (). A visitor location register (VLR) () then charges user () for services while in the foreign network () according to the roaming services agreement.

Abstract:
A method and a system for switching a mobile device () from a source Base Transceiver Station (BTS) to a target BTS in a mobile network () are disclosed. The method includes detecting an intention to switch the cell transmitted by the mobile device. A Base Station Controller (BSC) () then receives the switch detect time from the source BTS and/or the target BTS. The switch detect time is processed by the BSC to determine the switch time for the mobile device. The mobile device then switches from communication with the source BTS to communication with the target BTS, based on the switch time.

Abstract:
A method and system for providing credit for participation in an ad hoc wireless communication network is useful for improving network efficiency. The method includes receiving at a first network node a first data packet transmitted from a second network node (step ). The first data packet includes payload data and credit claim data. The first node then determines that the credit claim data should be forwarded to a credit accounting authority (step ), so a second data packet is then transmitted from the first node to the credit accounting authority (step ). The second data packet includes some of the credit claim data. The first node then transmits a third data packet to a third network node, where the third data packet includes the payload data (step ).

A presence server () receives a location from a location server () of a mobile device (). If the mobile device has location based communication services provisioned for it (), the presence server retrieves a current list of businesses authorized to send notifications to the mobile device (). If the business is at the location of the mobile device () and if the mobile device allows notifications from that business (), the presence server sends the notifications to the mobile device ().

Abstract:
An on-board aircraft telecommunication exchange (32) provides communication and authentication services for M subscriber identity modules (SIMs) using N transceivers (36), where M can be greater than N. Associations between SIMs (56) and transceivers (36) are established when needed. Accordingly, a pool of transceivers 36 is provided to serve the collective needs of many subscribers. A SIM based authentication process is performed (100) using a subscriber's original SIM (56). That authentication can be extended to a temporary SIM (106) that is substituted for the original SIM throughout the remainder of a flight. Alternatively, the original SIMs (56) may be locked in place and relinquished when a subscriber provides an appropriate PIN.
