Bioresorbable Oxidized Cellulose Composite Material For Prevention Of Postsurgical Adhesions
An improved adhesion-preventative physical barrier, wound dressing and drug delivery system comprising an oxidized cellulose film made up of multiple layers of a cellulose fabric or like material and a cellulose film. A method for forming an improved oxidized cellulose film and for using the same to prevent the formation of postsurgical adhesions and/or to dress a wound and/or to deliver one or more drugs.
Bioabsorbable Medical Devices From Oxidized Polysaccharides
Bioabsorbable medical devices are prepared by oxidizing derivatives of cellulose, including methyl cellulose, carboxymethylcellulose, and cellulose acetate. The resulting material is formed into films, sponges and, in the case of oxidized methyl cellulose, gels, due to its unique property of being water soluble. The resulting devices are particularly useful in limiting surgical adhesions, and for hemostasis. Other uses include wound dressings and as a replacement for more expensive bioabsorbable gels such as hyaluronic acid.

Abstract:
A processed biogas composition made with an oxygen-deficient thermal sub-system from a processed organic-carbon-containing feedstock made with a beneficiation sub-system is described. Renewable biomass feedstock passed through a beneficiation sub-system to reduce water content to below at least 20 wt % and water-soluble salt reduction of at least 60% from that of unprocessed organic-carbon-containing feedstock on a dry basis. The processed feedstock is introduced into an oxygen-deficient thermal sub-system to result in processed biogas having an energy density of at least 700 BTU/cubic ft (26 MJ/cubic meter), a carbon monoxide concentration of less than 20 vol %, and a carbon dioxide concentration of less than 15 vol %.
