Abstract:

A combination lock having a housing, a shackle, a dial, a pushbutton, and a lock assembly. The lock assembly is made of a group of rotating disks having windows that can be aligned to open the lock. When the dial is turned according to the combination of the lock, the windows become aligned so that the user can depress the pushbutton to release the shackle. The pushbutton travels in a direction that is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the dial. When the shackle is locked again, the pushbutton returns to its original position. As the pushbutton travels back to its original position, portions of the lock assembly are turned so that the combination must be reentered in order to reopen the lock.

Abstract:

A lock assembly has a lock body and a shackle. The shackle has a leg. A locking element is disposed in the lock body. The locking element is selectively engageable to the shackle. A cam is disposed in the lock body. The cam has a lock position for moving the locking element to engage the shackle. There is also an unlocked position for moving the locking element to disengage the shackle. The cam has a shackle removal position for removing the shackle from the lock body. The leg has a shackle removal recess sized to receive the locking element sufficiently so as to permit movement of the cam to the shackle removal position. The cam is configured to displace the locking element into the shackle removal recess.

A curved shackle gunlock for rendering a gun inoperative from accidental or unauthorized use and for deterring theft. The unique shape of the shackle is critical and will fit most firearms, specifically an automatic rifle. The thickness of the shackle provides maximum protection against destruction and violation. The gunlock can be inserted in the opening of a handgun through the breach and magazine well, through the revolver frame, through the loading port of a shotgun, or through the magazine well of a specialty gun.

Abstract:

A lock assembly includes a lock body with a shackle. The shackle has a leg. A locking element is disposed in the lock body and is selectively engageable to the shackle. A cam is disposed in the lock body and includes a locked position, an unlocked position and a shackle removal position. The leg includes a shackle removal recess that only partially extends circumferentially about an outer peripheral surface disposed about a longitudinal axis of the leg and is sized to receive the first locking element sufficiently to permit movement of the cam to the shackle removal position. The shackle is rotatable in the unlocked position to expose the shackle removal recess to the locking element.

Such weakening is controlled so that pin shearing can be accomplished by application of rotational or linear forces applied to any part of the lock except the key. Abstract:

A lock and a method for manufacturing the lock. The lock comprises a shell having an interior cavity, a plug received in the interior cavity rotatably and axially slidably therein and defining a keyway configured to receive a preselected key, and a tumbler insertable in the plug. The tumbler has a plug portion disposed at a first axial location within the plug and resiliently biased outwardly toward a locked radial position and associated with the keyway such that the preselected key inserted in the keyway locates the tumbler in an unlock position and a shell portion disposed at a second axial location in the shell wherein the second axial location is axially spaced from the first axial location. The shell, the plug and the tumblers are configured such that the tumblers are sheared between the plug and the shell when the plug and the shell are forced axially toward each other.
