Abstract:

A method and system integrates the monitoring of system components and detecting errors or potential problems (or both) in components of bulk fuel distribution facilities. Generally, the method and system includes a diagnostic support module for identifying what stand alone software modules, what fuel hardware, and what software interfaces/drivers associated with the fuel hardware are present in a bulk fuel distribution facility. After the diagnostic support module identifies the unique system components of a particular bulk fuel facility that can include software and fuel hardware, the diagnostic support module can perform system checks of the system components to determine if any system components are missing or if errors or potential problems (or any combination thereof) may exist in a particular bulk fuel distribution facility. The system checks performed by the diagnostic support module can include comparing information collected from the system components against a predetermined set of validation rules.

Abstract:

A fueling agent operates a fueling agent client device for collecting and generating transaction data relating to a fueling transaction. The fueling agent client device transmits the transaction data to a fuel management server, for example, via a wireless communications link. The fuel management server stores the transaction data in a transaction record. The transaction data includes final fuel load data indicating an amount of fuel dispensed during the fueling transaction. Selected transaction data is retrieved from the transaction record and is delivered to a data communications system for transmission to a receiver. The receiver may be in the cockpit of an aircraft. An aircraft data communication system may be a digital data link system for transmitting data to and from the aircraft via VHF radio, such as ACARS. The fuel management server may communicate with an aircraft data communication system directly, or indirectly via an airline computer system.

Abstract:

A tank side monitor includes two processor boards, a main/communication board, containing field communications interface circuitry and interface circuitry, and an optional IS module, containing HART interface circuitry. The two processor boards are link by an optically coupled serial communications bus. The HART circuitry is multiplexed and can be operated by either the Main/Communication board processor or a local processor on the HART IS board. The optional IS module, an extension of the HART IS board, provides options such as an IS 4-20 mA input or output or other IS I/O. The TSM employs a modular approach for hardware and software, whose implementation consists of a number of modules and programs, the first being the Main/Communications board software. Other programs are contained within the HART interface module. Due to the modular approach taken in the hardware design, the software is also modular and operates on two hardware modules: Main/Communications module software; and HART module software.

Abstract:

A fueling data collection unit associated with a fuel transfer apparatus and for use with a system for managing fueling transactions of a fleet operator using fuel transfer apparatuses at one or more locations includes a fueling data interface module and a temperature compensation module. The temperature compensation module compensates for a volume variance of the fuel as a result of temperature variance from the standard temperature data to determine a volume correction factor at the measured fuel temperature, while the temperature compensation module uses the measured fuel temperature to determine a compensated, more accurate volume and/or mass of fuel dispensed through the fuel meter. In this way, the fuel data collection unit can accurately measure the volume and/or mass of fuel being delivered. This allows the provider and the recipient to more accurately sell/buy what was actually delivered and can avoid over-filling a fueling order.
