Abstract:

A felt applicator including a plurality of complex slits is utilized for uniformly applying a liquid solution to a moving wire. The felt applicator has an entry slit and an angle slit extending from the entry slit such that the wire to be coated is secured at a coating position at the terminal end of the entry slit.

Abstract:

The present invention discloses a felt applicator for applying a solution of lubricant to magnet wire, the applicator having at least one surface sealed to prevent the premature evaporation of the lubricant solvent during its passage through the applicator from the reservoir to the wire, resulting in more uniform distribution and quantity of the lubricant about the substrate.

Abstract:

The present invention is for a method of applying high solids enamel coatings to magnet wire. The method comprises reducing the viscosity of the enamel to a processable range and then applying the heated enamel to the wire via a felt applicator. The coated wire is then passed through an oven where the enamel is cured. This method provides a process for applying high solids, viscous enamels to fine magnet wire substrates without the disadvantages of solvent dilution. The result is higher quality coatings, faster processing time and reduced process costs.

Abstract:

Apparatus and a method for dispensing a solution for use in a process including a flow meter and a precision valve are disclosed. A solenoid valve is incorporated within the dispensing apparatus and is electrically connected to the process for preventing flow during process interruption periods. Additional alarm means and safety interlocks are provided for controlling flow based upon operating conditions of the process.
