Abstract:
A curable liquid dispensing pen has a pen body to which a curable liquid dispensing reservoir may be removably attached. The pen body further has a coupling which may be coupled to a source of pressurized air. The air is directed through a passage in the pen body to the reservoir. The pressurized air moves a piston in the reservoir to cause curable liquid to be dispensed from the reservoir. A controller provides a timed pulse of pressurized air to the curable liquid dispensing pen and this controls the volume of curable liquid dispensed from the reservoir.
Dispensing Tip For Liquid Dispensing Systems And Method Of Making The Same
A dispensing tip for a liquid dispenser includes a hub having a proximal end, a distal end and a first passageway therethrough, and an elongate tube having a proximal end, a distal end and a second passageway therethrough. The proximal end of the tube is coupled to the distal end of the hub such that the first and the second passageways are in fluid communication. A chamfered portion is formed adjacent the distal end of the tube wherein the tube wall thickness at the dispensing orifice is less than the tube wall thickness upstream of the dispensing orifice. The tube may have a maximum outer diameter of approximately 0.009 inch or less. The tube may also have a minimum wall thickness less than 0.0005 inch. A method for making the dispensing tip includes applying a chemical etchant to a tube to form the chamfered portion.

Abstract:
A dispenser for viscous fluids includes a tubular cylindrical barrel member, a dispensing nozzle on one end of the barrel member and a piston element which is sealingly received in the barrel member and slidable therein in a direction toward the nozzle for dispensing a viscous fluid from the barrel member. The barrel member and the piston element are constructed so that the piston element is freely slidable in a reverse direction in the barrel member to relieve the pressure on the fluid in the barrel member after a dispensing operation has been completed and to thereby eliminate post extrusion from the dispenser. The dispenser is operative in combination with a dispenser gun which includes a drive plunger and an advancing mechanism which is operative for advancing the drive plunger in order to advance the piston element of the dispenser in the barrel member thereof. The advancing mechanism is further operative for automatically retracting the drive plunger after a dispensing operation has been completed so that the piston element is free to move rearwardly in the barrel member to relieve the pressure on the fluid in the barrel member.
