Abstract:

In preferred aspects of the present invention, at least one rib is provided can be molded to an internal dividing wall in the interior of a water separator in an automotive HVAC unit. In more preferred aspects, a plurality of ribs is provided that are molded to or with the wall, and, the plurality of ribs form a pattern, in a way that allows them to ‘direct’ or to ‘channel’ water from an air flow.

The present invention relates to HVAC units with condensate drainage systems, for use in motorized vehicles. The present invention provides for at least two or dual condensate drain paths with no extra parts required pre-distribution of the treated air from the HVAC unit, the drainage means or channel situated to allow condensate to ‘fall back’ or, to run upstream back from the evaporator in the opposite direction to the air in the main airflow or stream which continues to run downstream from the drainage area to be conditioned by the heat exchanger.

A HVAC system () includes a housing () with at least one first inlet () and at least one second inlet () formed thereon, at least one first door (), at least one second door () and an intermediate door (). The first inlet () and the second inlet () is for ingress of a first fluid stream and a second fluid stream inside the housing (). The first door () and the second door () moves with respect to the first inlet () and the second inlet () respectively to define an open configuration, a closed configuration and a partially open configuration thereof. The intermediate door () is disposed between the first inlet () and the second inlet () and moves between a deployed and an un-deployed configuration to respectively disrupt and allow fluid flow there across. The intermediate door () is a sliding door.

Abstract:

An HVAC air intake for a vehicle, includes an air intake housing disposed outside of a passenger compartment of the vehicle. A fresh air inlet is defined in an upper portion of the air intake housing. A drain is disposed in a sump portion of the air intake housing to drain water from the sump portion. A recirculation door is disposed in a recirculation airflow doorway defined in the air intake housing below the fresh air inlet and above the sump portion. The recirculation door prevents air from flowing upwardly, and water from flowing downwardly through the recirculation airflow doorway when the recirculation door is closed. A conduit is disposed in the air intake housing to convey water from the upper portion of the air intake housing, around the recirculation door, to the sump portion when the recirculation door is closed.
