Abstract:

A sporting goods article with a coating on a surface of the article for abrasion resistance and/or a high gloss appearance. The outer layer of the surface is a polymer, wood, metal, non-polymeric ink, non-polymeric colorant, non-polymeric dye, or a combination thereof The coating is a cured ceramer composition. The cured ceramer composition, in its simplest embodiment, is derived from a composition including inorganic oxide particles and a curable organic matrix, with the curable organic matrix including at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer and at least one organofunctional silane monomer coupling agent.

Abstract:

The present invention provides composition for treating a substrate comprising a homogeneous mixture of: (a) a fluorinated polyether silane of the formula: âwherein R represents a monovalent or divalent polyfluoropolyether group, Q represents an organic divalent linking group, R represents a C -C alkyl group, Y represents a hydrolysable group; x is 0 or 1 and y is 1 or 2; (b) an organic or an inorganic acid; (c) water; and (d) an organic solvent. The invention further provides a method of making such a composition and the use thereof to treat substrates to render them oil and water repellent.

Abstract:

This invention relates to chemical compositions comprising one or more urethane oligomers of at least two repeating units selected from the group consisting of fluorine-containing urethane oligomers and long-chain hydrocarbon-containing urethane oligomers. These urethane oligomers comprise the reaction product of (a) one or, more polyfunctional isocyanate compounds; (b) one or more polyols; (c) one or more monoalcohols selected from the group consisting of fluorochemical monoalcohols, optionally substituted long-chain hydrocarbon monoalcohols, and mixtures thereof; (d) one or more silanes; and optionally (e) one or more water-solubilizing compounds comprising one or more water-solubilizing groups and at least one isocyanate-reactive hydrogen containing group. The chemical compositions of the present invention can be applied as coatings and these coatings can impart stain-release characteristics and resist being worn-off due to wear and abrasion.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a water-soluble and shelf-stable aqueous fluorochemical polymeric treatment useful to treat porous substrates to render them repellent to water- and oil-based stains. The treatment comprises a water-soluble or dispersible fluorochemical polymer containing only carbon atoms in the backbone, with a plurality of each of the following groups pendant from the backbone: (a) fluoroaliphatic groups, (b) carboxyl-containing groups, (c) silyl groups and optionally (d) other non-hydrophilic groups. Because the water-soluble polymeric treatment, and the shelf-stable aqueous solutions thereof, can be applied to porous substrates in aqueous solution, they eliminate the need for environmentally harmful and toxic co-solvents.

This invention relates to antisoiling compositions for antireflective substrates. More particularly, this invention relates to methods for depositing antisoiling compositions onto antireflective substrates.
