Abstract:

An HDLC formatter and a message processing core exchange messages over a high speed message exchange interface. The interface includes a memory shared by the HDLC formatter and the message processing core. A handshaking arrangement is used to coordinate message storage and retrieval in the shared memory by the HDLC formatter and the message processing core with minimal utilization of processing resources of the message processing core. This handshaking coordination, together with the use of a message buffer accessed by the HDLC formatter to buffer channelized messages exchanged with the message processing core, facilitates message processing on multiple serial links (e. g. , 3) over multiple timeslots (e. g. , 256).

Abstract:

Ultrasound information for B-mode and CW Doppler mode use the same digital beamformer. Due to sigma-delta conversion or over sampling, sufficient dynamic range is provided for the desired bandwidth. By mixing the input ultrasound information to base band before conversion, additional dynamic range may be provided. The electrical impedance may be better matched to elements by connecting a different number of sigma-delta converters to an element. Elements with lower impedance may be connected to a plurality of sigma-delta converters. To increase the aperture size for elements with a higher impedance, the same sigma-delta converters may be used as separate receive beamformer channels without the summation.

Receive circuits and associated methods are provided for ultrasound imaging. Both subarray mixing and time division multiplexing are provided with a same circuit. Components of the receive circuit respond to either phasing or time slot information to implement subarray mixing or time division multiplexing. A network of switches allows combination of signals from different elements to form different sub-apertures. A controller minimizes power consumption while outputting the desired phase or time division multiplexed information by gating a clock to various registers. Each of the registers corresponds to different groups of transducer elements. For loading new phasing information, the clock is turned on to the desired register. Duration operation of the receive circuit, the clock is gated off. The register outputs the previously loaded values in a static state without clocking.

Abstract:

Network elements within a network are configured to transport Ethernet traffic and non-Ethernet traffic over a same medium. The network elements can generate and process multi-frames that include the Ethernet traffic and non-Ethernet traffic. Each of the plurality of group slots includes a first set of bytes allocated to carry the non-Ethernet traffic and a second set of bytes allocated to carry the Ethernet traffic. At least one group slot of the plurality of group slots includes a timestamp, and the network elements are further configured to use the timestamp to reconstruct the original spacing between packets of the Ethernet traffic.

Abstract:

We disclose an interface device configured to inter-convert CPRI data frames and Optical Transport Units (OTUs). The interface device acquires frame synchronization by temporarily storing data in a buffer bank such that translated sync characters are placed at respective predetermined locations within the buffer bank. Each translated sync character represents, in the corresponding OTU, a respective sync character of a CPRI hyperframe. The interface device is configured to distinguish translated sync characters from payload-data words of identical value based on predetermined alignment, in the buffer bank, of data temporarily stored therein for conversion into the CPRI data format. The interface device advantageously enables multiplexing of a plurality of CPRI links and aggregation and encapsulation of the multiplexed CPRI data into a stream of OTUs for transmission to the intended destination over an Optical Transport Network.
