Abstract:

A miniature roll-up halfpipe for use with fingerboards or miniature skateboards includes a pair of sideframes configurable in either a collapsed compact configuration or an extended open configuration. A pair of platforms join the end portions of the sideframes to form a generally rectangular structure having a pair of upwardly open curved edges. A flexible resilient sheet is received upon the supporting frame to form a curved surface of the type frequently used by skateboarders or the like. In the closed configuration, the flexible sheet is rolled into a cylindrical shape and encloses the collapsed siderails and platform elements. A pair of generally cylindrical endcaps are received upon the opposed ends of the rolled sheet to provide closure and secure attachment thereof.

An apparatus for playing a game is provided. The apparatus may include a base, a plurality of projectiles and a first target platform moveable with respect to the base. Abstract:

A light detection and ranging (LIDAR) system uses dual detectors to provide three-dimensional imaging of underwater objects (or other objects hidden by a partially transmissive medium). One of the detectors is a low resolution, high bandwidth detector. The other is a high resolution, narrow bandwidth detector. An initial laser pulse is transmitted to known x-y coordinates of a target area. The photo signals returned from the target area from this initial pulse are directed to the low resolution, high bandwidth detector, where a preliminary determination as to the location (depth, or z coordinate) of an object in the target area is made based on the time-of-receipt of the return photo signal. A second laser pulse is then transmitted to the target area and the return photo signals from such second laser pulse are directed to the high resolution, narrow bandwidth detector. This high resolution detector is gated on at a time so that only photo signals returned from a narrow "slice" of the target area (corresponding to the previously detected depth of the object) are received.

Abstract:

In an optical heterodyne system a first coherent light signal is received on an ordered array of light responsive elements, and a local oscillator source provides a second coherent light signal, the frequencies of the first and second coherent light signals being different. Mixing apparatus is provided to focus the second coherent light signal upon each of the light responsive elements of the array in a preselected sequence, and scanning apparatus scans the light responsive elements in the same preselected sequence to receive light responsive signals generated by the light responsive elements, each of the light responsive signals being related to the intensity of light impinging upon a different one of the light responsive elements and having a frequency equal to the difference between the frequencies of the first and second coherent light signals.
