Abstract:
A database-driven cytometry network allows for acquisition, analysis, and viewing of large amounts of cytometry data from multiple cytometers. Data from multiple instruments are uploaded to a database, where combined compensation and calibration matrices are applied automatically to correct for both spectral overlap among acquisition channels and instrument-dependent variations. The resulting instrument-independent data are gated automatically using common template gates. A user at a client computer can view and perform statistical analyses on any desired subset of the gated data.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for storing protein structure information are provided. The system comprises a non-public database storing protein structure information, wherein the non-public database is coupled to a public database of non-proprietary protein structure information and to non-public sources of proprietary protein structure information. The non-public database may also be coupled to a database having protein structure information for substantially all the proteins of at least one organism genome. The method may comprise loading protein structure data from at least one public database and loading protein structure data from one or more proprietary sources of protein structure information. The public database may comprise the Protein Data Bank (PDB). Certain types of additional information are also advantageously loaded into the database. These may include classification data corresponding to at least one protein ontology. Mass spectroscopy data, NMR data and x-ray crystallography data may also be loaded into the database.
A cargo carrying system for use with a vehicle. The system includes a platform having roller members on an underside thereof to facilitate movement of the platform along the ground. Also included is a connection assembly which serves to permit the attachment of the platform to a vehicle. In one embodiment, both a first height adjustment mechanism and a separate, finely adjustable height mechanism are included between the connection assembly and the platform. Also included is an intermediate, slidable member used between the platform and connection member to facilitate the connection of the platform to the vehicle.

Abstract:
The present invention provides methods for the diagnosis of a disease or condition in an individual. The methods employ a primary self-organizing map trained with biological marker profiles from tissues having known diseases or conditions, in combination with a secondary self-organizing map which displays a representation of a subset of the primary self-organizing map with sample data obtained from an individual in need of diagnosis. A result is prepared from the secondary SOM(s) that reveals the extent of similarity between the known diseases or conditions with the sample data set of the individual. The result can be provided to a practitioner to aid in the diagnosis or prognosis of the individual. The result can additionally be used to select an individual for a clinical trial to evaluate a treatment.

Abstract:
The present invention provides methods of determining the size of a particular nucleic acid segment of interest in a sample of nucleic acids through fragmentation of DNA, size fractionation, an optional second fragmentation, and identification using a marker sequence. In particular aspects, an expansion or reduction of tandem repeat sequences can be detected. In further aspects, carriers and individuals afflicted with fragile X syndrome or other diseases associated with tandem repeats can be distinguished from normal individuals.
