Abstract:

Apparatus and methods are provided for use in collecting fluids discharged from a patient and liquids used in various types of medical procedures. The apparatus includes a fluid control pad formed from multiple layers of material and one or more pouches attached to the pad. A first layer of film, or backup sheet, is preferably formed from liquid impervious material such as coextruded low density polyethylene and ethyl vinyl acetate polymers. A portion of the backup sheet is covered with a second layer of superabsorbent material and a top layer of cover stock. The first layer of film may be folded to provided pouches disposed longitudinally on opposite sides of the second layer of superabsorbent material. A strip of fiber reinforced porous web type material may be disposed in the opening to each pouch to assist in directing excess fluids from the second layer of superabsorbent material into the associated pouch.

Abstract:

A closure member for a bag has a blade and a sheath. The sheath has side walls that are joined on inner edges and open on outer edges. The blade inserts between the side walls. A partition connects between the side walls near a locking end of the sheath. The partition has a shoulder. A retaining wall locates on the locking end of the sheath, spaced longitudinally from the partition. The blade has a locking member that will insert between the retaining wall and the partition. The locking member of the blade has a shoulder that snaps over the shoulder end of the retaining wall.

Abstract:

In performing a series of device evaluation cycles relative to pins of a physical electronic model, a signature associated with an immediately preceding device evaluation cycle is compared to the corresponding signature that exists just prior to the last pattern for the current device evaluation cycle. If the signatures compare, the new pattern of the current evaluation cycle is completed. If the signatures do not compare, an error has occurred and the operator is notified so that this series of device evaluation cycles will not be considered valid. Computer simulation information is employed to determine the optimal times to clock signatures with each signal pin having its own programmable clocking circuit. These optimally generated signatures are used to verify the consistent operation of the physical model.
