A vascular access needle assembly is disclosed. The needle assembly contains a needle and a sheath. The needle has a first part, a second part, and a third part. The needle contains a pointed end configured to penetrate skin of a patient and a sheath slidably and rotatably coupled with the needle. The sheath having one or more irrigation slots configured to transmit a fluid from a fluid source to a vascular region.
A system and a method for facilitating the entry of a tracheal airway of a patient during intubation are disclosed. The system of the present invention comprises an endobronchial tube and a support probe that is configured to be insertable within the endobronchial tube, wherein the support probe is configured to support the endobronchial tube. The length of the support probe is more than a length of the endobronchial tube to facilitate the entry of the endobronchial tube into the tracheal airway.
Guiding catheter support devices, systems, and methods for stabilizing a guiding catheter while positioned in a vessel of a patient are disclosed. The device comprises a stabilizing wire with an elongate portion and a fortified end, wherein the fortified end is more rigid than the elongate portion. The stabilizing wire is inserted into a guiding catheter while it is positioned in a vessel of a patient and increases the rigidity of at least a portion of the guiding catheter thereby providing support and stabilizing the catheter. A standard guiding catheter may be used or a guiding catheter with a primary lumen and a stabilization lumen having a blind distal end may be used, wherein the stabilizing wire is inserted into the stabilization lumen.
A positioning device is disclosed. The device comprises a distal end, a proximal end, and an elongated body disposed in-between, wherein the elongated body is configured to accommodate at least a portion of the apparatus, and wherein a cross-sectional area of a portion the positioning device is smaller than a cross-sectional area of the apparatus and the cross-sectional area of a portion the positioning device is configured to be expandable.
A guidewire positioning device and method for guiding and positioning a guidewire into a branch vessel of a main body vessel are disclosed. The device comprises a guidewire positioning tube attached to a torquable wire shaft. The distal end of the positioning tube is curved at an angle to the axis of the wire shaft. To position a guidewire into a branch body vessel, the guidewire is inserted into a main body vessel and the guidewire positioning device is advanced over the guidewire to the location of the bifurcation. The distal end of the positioning tube is positioned to point toward the targeted branch vessel by advancing or torquing the positioning device. The guidewire is advanced through the guidewire positioning tube and the curved distal end of the guidewire tube is used to direct the guidewire to enter the targeted branch vessel.
