Abstract:
A system for passively determining a speed of moving vehicles includes a single imaging device () for acquiring a plurality of images at a first time and at least at one second later time, wherein each image includes a moving vehicle () on a vehicle pathway () and at least one fixed object () proximate to the vehicle, defining a first plane (π) intersecting an adjacent portion of the vehicle pathway (), wherein no geometric lengths of the vehicle () are known a priori. The system can also include a processor () operable to receive data associated with the images and determine a speed of the vehicle () in the images, wherein the processor () estimates at least one geometric length of the vehicle () by applying homography using the plurality of images, and where the processor () determines a speed of the vehicle () from the plurality of images and the estimated geometric length using a velocity estimation method.

Indian crypto exchange CoinDCX tops $2 billion valuation in new $135 million funding
What is interesting about this round is the quality of investors whore coming in and the kind of strong confidence they have shown on the market, said Sumit Gupta, co-founder and chief executive of CoinDCX, in an interview with TechCrunch. It gives a good boost to the overall industry.
The latest introductions, according to Sumit Gupta, vice president of high performance computing and analytics, IBM, should be seen as proof of IBMs ongoing commitment to accelerated computing as the new paradigm, and of cognitive computing (writ large) and big data analytics as the major drivers.

IBM's First OpenPOWER Server Targets HPC Workloads
The prototype of IBMs system revealed today is the first in a series of new high-density Tesla GPU-accelerated servers for OpenPOWER high-performance computing and data analytics, commented Sumit Gupta, general manager of accelerated computing at NVIDIA.
The one thing that Nvidia did not launch today was a Maxwell-based Tesla coprocessor card, and Sumit Gupta, general manager of the Tesla GPU Accelerated Computing division at Nvidia, did not comment on when or if the company would get such a device into the field. We are beginning to think, based on

Sumit Gupta, General Manager of Tesla GPU Accelerated Computing for Nvidia, described NVLink as the "first high-speed interconnect for the GPU," allowing point-to-point communications between a GPU and another GPU, as well as between the GPU and the Power CPU.
"This is a huge endorsement for the Tesla GPU accelerator platform," said Sumit Gupta, general manager of Nvidia's Tesla accelerated computing business. "To be able to build up these large systems, you need the energy efficiency that GPU accelerators provide."

IBM opens up Power chips, ARM-style, to take on Chipzilla
Nvidia, which is an ARM licensee, is not about to become a Power licensee, says Sumit Gupta, general manager of the Tesla Accelerated Computing business unit. But Nvidia is very excited about the prospects of marrying Power processors and Nvidia GPUs for both HPC and general purpose systems.
