Abstract:
The present invention discloses novel twist-on wire connectors. These connectors include spring inserts having cross-sectional shapes which reduce the amount of material necessary to manufacture the spring insert without compromising the holding or gripping ability of the wire connectors. The cross-sectional shapes eliminate excess material in the spring insert that plays no part in holding and gripping the electrical wires that are to be joined and held together.
An elongated socket having an opening for receiving a wire connector to connect at least a pair of wires inserted in the wire connector. The socket is formed in an elongated cylindrical body having a wire connector receiving end. The socket is formed with four bores of different cross sections. These include an outermost bore positioned adjacent the wire connector receiving end of the body. An innermost bore is positioned farthest axially away from the wire connector receiving end of the body. Two intermediate bores are located between the outermost and innermost bores. The bores decrease in cross section from the outermost to the innermost. Each of the bores is defined by an imperforate circumferential wall of the body and has alternately positioned ribs and grooves. The grooves of the outermost bore are dimensioned to receive wings extending from a skirt of a wire connector. One of the intermediate bores has grooves dimensioned to receive wings extending from a truncated conical body of a wire connector.

Abstract:
A wire connector applicator is capable of holding a clip of interconnected twist-on wire connectors in a tube which can be rotated by an electric motor. The connectors rotate with the tube for installation on the ends of stripped electrical wires. The invention is also directed to an interlocking twist-on wire connector which prevents axial separation and relative rotation of similarly configured group or clip of interlocked connectors.

Abstract:
A push-in wire connector has an improved busbar suitable for use with either solid or stranded wire. The connector has a housing with a hollow interior. At least two openings in the housing provide access to the interior for the ends of wires inserted into the connector. A busbar is mounted in the housing. The busbar defines at least two wire-crossing axes extending from an entry edge to an exit edge and a thickness between a top face and a bottom face. The busbar has a wire-receiving pocket extending below the top face on each of the wire-crossing axes and a wire-engaging protrusion extending above the top face on each of the wire-crossing axes.

A push-in wire connector has an enclosure that includes at least two wire entry ports that face in opposite directions. A terminal assembly is disposed within the enclosure and includes a busbar positioned between the wire ports. A spring member biases inserted conductors into engagement with the busbar.

Abstract:
This is a one-piece conductive clip for use with push-in wire connectors. The one-piece conductive clip retains electrical conductors within the connector and provides electrical connection between two or more conductors. The clip has terminal blocks which include a spring and a busbar. The spring and the busbar are arranged so that the spring clamps a wire inserted between the spring and the busbar. The terminal blocks are arranged in two separate rows where each row is located along a plane generally parallel to the other row. This allows both vertically-stacked and horizontally-adjacent electrical connections between the electrical conductors.
Terminal structures for wiring devices, such as receptacle assemblies, are disclosed having first and second spring assemblies constructed of a first metal and each having at least one spring finger with the first and second spring assemblies being connected to respective first and second conductive contacts that are constructed of a second metal, wherein the terminal structures are configured for push-in termination of conductive stripped ends of respective first and second wires between the at least one spring finger of the respective first and second spring assemblies and the respective first and second conductive contacts, and wherein the first and second conductive contacts are configured to be connected to respective first and second separate conductive elements. Such a terminal structure is shown for example within a receptacle assembly in the form of a grounding duplex plug outlet.
