Abstract:

Devices and methods for storing hydrogen fuels or other gaseous fuels. One embodiment of a container for storing gaseous fuels in accordance with an aspect of the invention comprises a high-pressure vessel configured to contain the gas in a high-pressure zone at a pressure significantly above atmospheric pressure. The container can also include a storing medium in the vessel and an inlet/outlet line extending through the vessel. The storing medium can have a plurality of storage spaces configured to physically bind molecules of the gas to the storing medium, and the inlet/outlet line can be a tube extending through the vessel in fluid communication with the storing medium. In operation, the high-pressure vessel is pressurized with a gaseous fuel (e. g. , hydrogen) to a pressure significantly above atmospheric pressure (e. g. , approximately 3,000-10,000 psi).

Abstract:

The controls for controlling the supply of natural gas fuel for a vehicle are integrated together in a module which is located at the gas tank. Such controls include a high pressure regulator for lowering the pressure of the gas flowing from the tank and an electronically controlled solenoid valve which shuts off the gas flow when no fuel is required by the engine and when the gas pressure in the tank falls below a predetermined value. Also included in the module are a pressure sensor for providing signals for controlling the shutoff valve; a check valve which permits one way flow of gas into the gas tank when it is filled; a pressure relief mechanism responsive to the temperature and pressure sensors for allowing safe release of the gas to the outside should the temperature rise above a predetermined limit. The solenoid valve, as indicated above, responds to the sensors and additionally functions as an excess flow shut off valve to cut off gas flow from the tank should the gas line rupture or the module is sheared off.

Abstract:

The pay phone apparatus of this invention includes a multiplicity of pay phones; a central switching board including a central switching device for each pay phone; and, a pair of telephone lines connecting each pay phone and its related switching device. Each pay phone has a coin mechanism to receive and hold nickels, dimes, and quarters deposited therein. The mechanism sends nickel, dime, and quarter coin signals to its related switching device each time a nickel, dime or quarter is deposited therein and operates to return coins held thereby to the user of the pay phone or to deliver them into a coin box in the pay phone in response to coin return and coin accept signals directed to it from the switching device. The invention next includes a counting device in each pay phone that receives coin signals from the mechanism, converts those signals into digital data, and stores in its memory the data relating to each denomination of coins deposited in and held by mechanism, the number of those coins last delivered by the mechanism into the coin box, and the total number of those coins that have been deposited in and accepted by the pay phone. The invention next includes a single monitoring station including a computer with a printer and connected with a related switching device on the central switching board.

Abstract:

A needle driver includes a first elongated body that defines an interior chamber. A second elongated body defines an interior space, and is slideable within the interior chamber defined by the first elongated body between a retracted position and an extended position. The needle driver also includes a clamping device having a clamping end and a connecting member, which is affixed to the first elongated body and coupled within the clamping end. A biasing shaft is slideably disposed within the interior space defined by the second elongated body.
