Abstract:

A watch radiotelephone ( ) comprises a watch face ( ) and a keypad ( ). The watch face ( ) indicates a time of day in an analog format. The analog format includes twelve indicia ( ) positioned around a perimeter ( ) of the watch face ( ). The twelve indicia ( ) represent and correspond to twelve hours in a day in the analog format. The keypad ( ) includes twelve keys ( ). Individual keys ( ) of the twelve keys ) are positioned to correspond with individual ( ) of the twelve indicia ( ). A user of the watch radiotelephone ( ) is permitted to actuate a predetermined number of the twelve keys ( ) of the keypad ( ) in a predetermined sequence to enter a telephone number in accordance with a users familiarity of the twelve indicia ( ) located around the perimeter ( ) of the watch face ( ). Abstract:

A charging apparatus for a multiunit system includes a portable unit (101) and a base unit (103). The portable unit (101) includes first and second conductive contacts (119, 120) disposed on the portable unit (101) essentially opposite each other, and rechargable energy storage means (311) electrically coupled to the first and second conductive contacts (119, 120). The base unit (103) includes an indentation (124) formed in the base unit (103) and having a receiving surface shaped to receive at least a portion of the portable unit (101), first and second conductive protrusions (127, 129) extending outwardly beyond the receiving surface essentially opposite each other, and energy source means (131) electrically coupled to the first and second conductive protrusions (127, 129). The first and second conductive protrusions (127, 129) contact the first and a second conductive contacts (119, 120), respectively when at least a portion of the portable unit (101) is placed in the indentation (124).

Abstract:

A wrist-carried radiotelephone (10) comprises a housing (12), radiotelephone circuitry (90) and a bracelet (16). The radiotelephone circuitry (90) is disposed in the housing (12). The bracelet (16) is connected to the housing (12) and secures the housing (12) to a user's wrist. The bracelet (16) further comprises a plurality of links (18, 20, 22, 24). Each link (18, 20, 22, 24) of the plurality of links (18, 20, 22, 24) has a battery (26, 28, 30, 32) disposed therein. Adjacent links (18, 20, 22, 24) of the plurality of links (18, 20, 22, 24) are mechanically coupled together using a hinge (72, 74). Adjacent batteries (26, 28, 30, 32), disposed in respective adjacent links (18, 20, 22, 24) of the plurality of links (18, 20, 22, 24), are electrically coupled together using electrical conductors (50, 52, 58, 60). The batteries (26, 28, 30, 32) disposed in the links (18, 20, 22, 24) provide power to the radiotelephone circuitry (90). The distribution of the batteries (26, 28, 30, 32) among the links (18, 20, 22, 24) provide a reasonable amount of power for cellular type radiotelephone circuitry (90) while providing an aesthetically pleasing design.
