A travel system for processing travel requests based on a user's travel destination goal such as a meeting place and time. The travel system selects a destination terminal, if one is not provided, and estimates a travel time between the destination terminal and the destination goal. An itinerary is then built interactively with the user selecting air, bus or train transportation, ground transportation, and, optionally, hotels, restaurants, and activities.

Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture consistent with the present invention use a data processing system to aggregate information reflecting demand for an item based on input requests associated with the item, each request having been received from a remote user and including remote user identification information, provide the aggregated information to a plurality of suppliers, each capable of supplying the item, receives at least one proposed response from at least one of the suppliers, including a proposal for providing the item to the remote users, and provides the proposed response to the remote users based on the remote user identification information. Aggregated information is provided without the remote user identification information associated the requests.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for processing a query of a travel database. The method comprises receiving a selected arrival location and a selected departure location. A set of desirable fares is found between the arrival location and the departure location and possible itineraries are constructed between the arrival location and the departure location associated with the desirable fares. A set of rules is applied to the possible itineraries. An availability portion of the travel database is queried for available travel units for the one or more travel segments based upon the applied set of rules and the possible itineraries. The available travel units are displayed in a calendar-based user interface.
