Abstract:

Axially compressible, self-sealing, high bandwidth F-connectors for conventional hand tools for interconnection with coaxial cable. An internal, dual segment sealing grommet activated by compression provides a seal. Each connector has a rigid nut that is rotatably secured to a, tubular body. A rigid, conductive post coaxially extends through the connector. A post barbed end penetrates the cable within the connector. A tubular, metallic end cap is slidably fitted to a body shank, and thereafter forcibly compressed lengthwise during installation. The end cap has a ring groove for seating the enhanced grommet. The end cap can irreversibly assume any position, being held by end cap teeth. A tactile system comprising external convex projections on the body complemented by a resilient, external O-ring on the end cap aids installers who can properly position connectors with the sense of touch.

Abstract:

A tracker mount assembly for securing, aiming and controlling microwave satellite dish antennas. The tracker mount assembly preferably includes a rigid, central rectangular frame adapted to be disposed over a supporting surface by an elevating stanchion. The carriage-like frame includes a pair of adjustable, frame wings which are pivotally coupled to the frame sides and ultimately support the receiving antenna. These wings may be adjusted relative to the sides of the frame upon which they are secured to selectively vary declination. An elongated, rigid central frame member is pivotally journaled between the frame front and rear. Frame elevation is adjusted by variations between the angular orientation of the central frame member and its lower support structure. A spur gear rigidly secured to the latter central frame member is meshed with a frame-mounted, motorized worm gear assembly so as to vary azimuth of the antenna by forcing the frame carriage (and thus the wings) to pivot relative to the central frame member. A motor control circuit includes limit control means comprising mercury switches for controlling maximum azimuthal frame travel.

Abstract:

A heated microwave antenna ideal for the direct broadcast satellite service, and heated conversion kits for retrofitting to conventional antennas. Antennas modified in accordance with the invention are highly weather resistant, as the dish is warmed to avoid snow and ice accumulation to prevent signal degradation. The heated microwave antenna mounts upon a mast that is bracketed to a satisfactory support. The dish focuses microwave signals upon a low noise broad band amplifier (LNB). The dish comprises multiple laminations from internal elements that are sandwiched together, and exhibits significant mechanical strength and substantial weather resistance. The preferred dish comprises a metallic reflector, a heated grid, an insulation layer, and a backing plate nested together to form a composite, laminated unit. The grid comprises a resistive heater element activated by a temperature-responsive thermostat. A concentric trim ring surrounding the dish periphery waterproofs the antenna.
