About:
While there are many fine agents in the Sequim-Port Angeles area, I do feel I offer a somewhat unique blend of background, experience, education, expertise, and professionalism. Background- I come from a pioneering Sequim family with roots going back to the 1800’s. My grandmother’s family, the Cays, settled here in the 1870’s, and have a road named after them. My grandfather’s family brought their logging company here in the early 1900’s and logged much of the Dungeness Valley. My mother was the recipient of the Sequim “Jay Sherman Man of the Year Award” in recognition of her many years of designing the Irrigation Festival float and musical accompaniment for the annual High School operetta. My father was quite active in local boards and commissions and received the honor of Grand Pioneer for the Irrigation Festival. I grew up on our 450 acre farm in Agnew, was elected State President of the Future Farmers of America, and graduated as a National Merit Finalist with honors from Sequim in 1965. Experience- I began my real estate career in 1971 as an agent and sold the first lots and homes in Monterra, our family’s development on a portion of our farm. In addition to overseeing the continued development of Monterra, I was selected by the owners of Woodland Heights, to oversee the finalization and initial marketing of their subdivision. As the Designated Broker for three different brokerages in the mid 70’s and early 80’s, I was involved in all categories of real estate- from simple home sales to interstate tax-deferred exchanges. Education- I have always endeavored to keep abreast of the latest developments in real estate thru attendance at numerous seminars and college courses, attaining the designation of GRI in 1976. In addition to taking classes, I taught real estate classes at Peninsula College for 5 years- teaching Pre-License, Real Estate Office Management, and Real Estate Ethics. I recently completed courses in Real Estate Practices and Analyzing Income Properties. Expertise- I have demonstrated an ability to thoroughly analyze a property and in conjunction with the sellers, develop a marketing strategy which usually results in a quicker sale with a minimum of stress. When working with buyers, my ability to listen to needs and desires and match those up with available inventory, no matter where located on the Peninsula, has given me a proven track record with a variety of buyers. Professionalism- I have always maintained a very professional, yet, personable, relationship with my clients. The values my parents instilled in me, together with the values my faith has confirmed in me, have made it easy for me to always consider the needs of my clients and be willing to go the extra mile for them. I would hope, should you choose to let me work for you, that your experience will confirm what I have said and that you will not only be pleased with the results, but will be happy to refer friends or family to me.
