  • Filed:
    Aug 13, 1975
  • Appl. No.:
    5/604358
  • Inventors:
Tetsuo Nomiyama - Santa Ana CA
  • International Classification:
    A42B 108
  • US Classification:
    2411
  • Abstract:
An impact-absorbing helmet comprising an inner, substantially-stationary, shell member formed as an integral part of the base member, including a separate outer shell member superposed over the inner shell member and rotatably attached thereto, the rotation thereof being about the vertical axis of the helmet, whereby any tangential impact received by the outer shell will cause the outer shell to rotate, thereby absorbing the blow thereto, wherein the outer shell is held in rotational, spaced relationship by a plurality of bearing units interdisposed therebetween.

  • US Patent:
    41853318, Jan 29, 1980
  • Filed:
    Sep 14, 1978
  • Appl. No.:
    5/942300
  • Inventors:
Tetsuo T. Nomiyama - Santa Ana CA
  • International Classification:
    A42B 108
    A63B 7110
  • US Classification:
    2411
  • Abstract:
A protective head device for use in sporting games and particularly designed as a bicyclist's protective helmet, wherein the device includes inner and outer shock-absorbing band members, the outer band being capable of linear movement relative to the inner band. The inner band is secured to a plurality of head straps in a stationary manner with respect to the head of the user. A bearing mechanism is interposed between the inner and outer bands to allow movement of the outer band, upon impact, relative to the inner band. Thus, the force of the impact is greatly reduced thereby preventing serious injury to the wearer thereof.
  • Angular Impact Absorbing Device

  • US Patent:
    39972089, Dec 14, 1976
  • Filed:
    Dec 1, 1975
  • Appl. No.:

  • International Classification:
    B60R 1908
  • US Classification:
    293 71R
  • Abstract:
An angular impact-absorbing device applicable to auto bumpers and various types of guard rails, wherein the device comprises a first fixed body member secured to a substantially stationary support, a second movable body member slidably mounted to the first fixed body member, and bearing elements disposed between each body member, whereby angular impact received by the movable body member will cause the movable body to slide relative to the first fixed body and thereby absorb a substantial portion of the impact forces.
