    A method and system are provided for connecting consumers and merchants. In accordance with one or more embodiments, the method includes (a) providing data on a plurality of merchants and one or more telephone numbers associated with each of the plurality of merchants; (b) receiving from a search system search data relating to an online search performed by a consumer directed at identifying a desired merchant, the search data identifying one or more merchants of the plurality of merchants matching the online search and a search association identifier associated with the consumer; (c) receiving the search association identifier from the consumer and facilitating communication between the consumer and a selected merchant of the one or more merchants; (d) associating the communication between the consumer and the selected merchant to the online search by matching the search association identifier received from the consumer and the search association identifier of the search data; and (e) charging the selected merchant a fee for connecting the consumer to the selected merchant when the communication between the consumer and the selected merchant is associated with the online search and the communication occurs within a predetermined period of time after the online search is performed by the consumer.

    An automatic callback arrangement for an automatic call-distribution (ACD) system. The arrangement collects and stores the telephone number from which a call is incoming (ANI), estimates how long the call will have to hold in queue before it is answered, and, if the waiting time exceeds a predetermined maximum, prompts the caller to chosse between holding or receiving a return call if the caller is a valid-account holder. If the caller choses a return call, the arrangement prompts the caller for callback time and time-period. The arrangement then verifies whether the caller is a valid account holder. If so, the arrangement places an outgoing call to the stored telephone number when the callback time arrives. If the call does not get through, the arrangement repeatedly periodically repeats placing of the outgoing call, until the call gets through or the callback time-period expires. When it places the outgoing call, the arrangement connects the originating end thereof to an ACD agent to handle the call.

    Technologies for attributing purchases to a targeted marketing campaign include associating a captured payment card number and a captured cardholder identifier with a globally unique identifier.     Various systems described herein may allow a user's personal information, such as their medical history, to be automatically delivered to appropriate emergency personnel in response to a reported emergency, such as a 911 call, activation of a smoke alarm or security system, or other emergency. Various items of personal and confidential information may be stored in a secure location, and the user may provide advanced approval to have the information automatically delivered to emergency responders in response to a request for emergency assistance. For example, after the user initiates a request for emergency assistance, a computing device may determine whether the user has granted approval for emergency delivery of the user's confidential information, and if such approval has been granted, the computing device may request the delivery of the user's confidential information to the emergency responders.
