Abstract:

A method of making a coated component with a close proximity backwall is achieved by applying a coating to a pre-existing workpiece that contains a substrate with a plurality of apertures. The substrate is in close proximity to a backwall. The coating is removed from the plurality of apertures with a fluid jet cutting system. The fluid jet cutting system has a fluid jet that does not include a particulate material additive.

Abstract:

A mount assembly includes a main body, a bayonet, and a block. The bayonet is movable relative the main body to insert a portion of the bayonet into an internal cavity of the main body. The block is disposed within the internal cavity and is movable relative to the main body from a first position to a second position. In the first position, the bayonet is captured and held between the block and an inner wall of the internal cavity. In the second position, the block allows the bayonet to be removed from the internal cavity.

A method of forming an iso-grid structure may include filling multiple pockets of the iso-grid structure with a filler material, attaching a support structure to the perimeter of the iso-grid structure, shaping the iso-grid and support structures, and removing the support structure from the iso-grid structure. The support structure may be thinned and stretched during the shaping process.

Abstract:

A hanger system for connecting components in a gas turbine engine has a first spaced component, a second spaced component arranged a desired distance from the first spaced component, and a plurality of spacers arranged between the first spaced component and the second spaced component. A T-bar having a shaft portion and a crossbar is arranged between the components. The shaft portion of the T-bar passes through an aperture in the first spaced component and the crossbar portion of the T-bar is arranged adjacent to the second spaced component. A bracket is coupled to the second spaced component and substantially encapsulates the crossbar portion of the T-bar.
