Abstract:

Discloses is an apparatus for injection molding permitting movement of the injection molding machine in multiple planes. The apparatus has a frame and an injection molding machine mounted within the frame. Located on both the frame and the injection molding machine are a plurality of interlocking rails and rail bearings. The movement of the rails in the rail bearings permits the injection molding machine to move relative to the frame. The frame is a two piece interlocking frame, the two pieces being capable of movement relative to each other.

Abstract:

The injection molding machine has an extruder for providing molding material, a cavity for retaining the molding material prior to injection into a mold, a plunger within the cavity to move the material out of the cavity, and a check valve. The check valve has separate means to permit the material to flow from the extruder to the cavity and from the cavity to an adjacent mold. By having separate flow channels for molding and recharging, the injection molding machine may be recharged on the fly.

Abstract:

A roll coater assembly system for application of a fluid material having a transport system with a part loading system, an application system, and a curing system for curing the material applied. The transport system is a continuous conveyor having a plurality of work stations movably supporting and transporting items to be processed to the application systems and curing systems, with the conveyors of the transport and loading systems having a single drive mechanism which operates both of the conveyors, such that the cylindrical items are provided to circumferentially located stations within and surrounding a cylindrical wheel of the part loading system which rotates to engage and move the cylindrical items into and out of the stations of the cylindrical wheel about a central axis of the cylindrical wheel and into the transport system conveyor by movement of the drive mechanism and respective conveyor synchronized by a control system.

Abstract:

A spindle spray coating system including a spindle conveyor system for horizontally transporting parts supported on spindles within the system. A spindle rotation station assembly is also provided for rotating individual spindles supporting parts during spraying. A spray containment closed spray booth for containment of parts supported on spindles during the spray operation by an adjustable spray system to minimize environmental and operator exposure to the coating materials being sprayed. A second spray containment closed spray booth may also be provided for containment of parts supported on spindles during a secondary spray operation by an adjustable secondary spray system. Following the spray operation(s), a vision inspection system is used to inspect the parts that have been coated. An automated defective part rejection assembly is also provided which includes a vertical lifting mechanism, and a gripper mechanism for gripping defective parts, and lifting and rotating the parts through a 180 degree motion using a balanced counterweight, followed by release of the parts from the gripper mechanism for disposal.

Abstract:

A modular injection molding machine has an extruder/injector assembly, a carriage assembly for carrying the extruder/injector assembly, a first clamping apparatus for holding an associated first mold, a main frame assembly which supports the first clamping apparatus and, a first adder module assembly. The first adder module assembly is selectively operatively connectable to the main frame assembly and is used to support a second clamping apparatus at any selectable laterally spaced distance. The carriage assembly selectively carries the extruder/injector assembly between the first and second clamping apparatuses. The preferred clamping apparatus has a first clamp assembly which is rigidly connected to an associated support member, a second clamp assembly which is movably connected to the first clamp assembly, a lower platen assembly which is operatively connected to the first clamp assembly, an upper platen assembly which is operatively connected to the second clamp assembly and, moving means for selectively moving the second clamp assembly. The first and second clamp assemblies form a collapsible C frame support structure. To add an adder module to a modular injection molding machine, first a base plate is positioned at any selectable laterally spaced distance from a bottom plate.
