Abstract:

Membrane strip diffusers are disclosed, useful for example in aerating wastewater in activated sludge plants. These diffusers have membranes, diffuser bodies and gas conduits elongated in the same general direction. Such conduits may be attached to or formed integrally with the diffuser bodies. Gas chambers form beneath the membranes when they inflate, and these are separate from but communicate with the gas conduits, e. g. , through passageways distributed along the lengths of the membrane supports. Preferably, the passageway flow cross-sections are small, thus tending toward uniform distribution of gas along the membrane's length. Ways to edge- and end-seal the membranes to the diffuser bodies are also disclosed.

Abstract:

Membrane strip diffusers are disclosed, useful for example in aerating wastewater in activated sludge plants. These diffusers have membranes, diffuser bodies comprising gas conduits and, in addition to the conduits, integral membrane supports elongated in the same general direction. Such conduits are for example co-extruded with the diffuser bodies. The supports are apertured to discharge gas into chambers formed beneath the membranes when they inflate, and the membranes have pores to discharge the gas. Ways to edge- and end-seal the membranes to the diffuser bodies and ways to support the diffusers are also disclosed.

An improved venturi device for facilitating the mixture of fluid substances, such as wine and air. The device may be combined with a dispensing valve to further promote functionality. The improved venturi device is especially effective in drawing a second fluid into the primary flow of a first fluid, and when combined with a dispensing valve it obviates the need for a venturi independent from a valve to accomplish mixing at low flows and low liquid head pressure.

Abstract:

A flight attachment is provided for a drive chain comprised of a plurality of overlapping links pivotally connected by pins so that stress loads transmitted through the chain by flight are transferred through the chain pivot pins and not through the chain side bars. The flight attachment comprises a pair of flight brackets, one located on each side of a link of the chain and connected to the chain in cantilever fashion by elongate, laterally extending pivot pins. The flight brackets are constructed and arranged to accept a collector flight securely mounted thereon.

The open inlet end of a microscreen drum is defined by a circular track which is supported on rollers above the flow. The stationary wall supporting the rollers carries a flange-type flexible seal extending in a partial circle around the opening in the wall. The track carries a fully circular flange and a low-friction, slit tubing covers its axially projecting edge and is engaged by the flexible seal.

A polymeric split sprocket wheel is provided having two mating portions that, when joined, form a split line at the junction of those portions, two side faces, a toothed outer rim and a central axial bore, and which is designed to be mounted on a relatively immobile yet rotatable keyed shaft, being secured thereon by means of a tripartite apparatus comprised of a captive slotted keyway molded into the central axial bore of the wheel, a circular band clamp capable of exerting a uniform degree of force all around the axial hub, and a plurality of wedge dog assemblies which join the wheel together along the split line by means of a plurality of wedge dog clamps which straddle the split line, are inserted into tapered receptacles, and are fixed to the wheel by fastening means.
