Abstract:

A network interface device and enclosure adapted to interconnect incoming telephone wiring to subscriber premises wiring. The device, according to one embodiment, comprises first electrical terminals adapted to be connected to the subscriber premises wiring, second electrical terminals adapted to be connected to the incoming telephone wiring, a removable module disposed between the first and second electrical terminals, the module having space for a telephone circuit and the module having electrical connections for connecting the module with the second terminal; a cable coupled to the first terminals, the cable including a plug at an end of the cable distant from the first terminals, and a jack located on the module adapted to receive the plug, the jack being electrically coupled to the electrical connections for connecting the module with the second terminal. The network interface device may be disposed within an enclosure and the enclosure may have individual access panels so that an individual subscriber can access its terminals and not the terminals of other subscribers.

Abstract:

A holder for retaining telephone related circuitry enables telephone circuitry designed for various specific mounting configurations to be mounted to a connecting block. The holder includes a housing having an opening for receiving the circuit. Ear projections and a flexible hook-shaped projection are integrally molded in the interior portion of the housing for removably retaining the circuitry. The housing also has fanning strip guides integrally molded in its exterior portion for insertion between fanning strips on the connecting block. A first tab and a flexible second tab project off of and are integrally molded to the housing so that the housing can snap on to the connecting block.

Abstract:

A multiline telephone test receptacle for allowing testing of more than one telephone line connected to the receptacle in a convenient manner, for example, with a single line telephone set, without requiring special connections. In one embodiment, a movable member having an opening which is positionable in two positions over a telephone jack cavity allows contacts of a telephone plug to engage different ones of the telephone lines connected to the jack in the two positions, thus providing a convenient means for testing the two lines. In another embodiment, the contacts of the telephone jack cavity are disposed on a movable member and the opening is fixed. The telephone test receptacle can be expanded to allow testing of more than two lines.

Telephone network interface apparatus for interconnecting incoming telephone company wiring to subscriber premises wiring including a base including a bottom and an outwardly extending wall circumscribing the bottom, the wall includes opposed first and second wall portions and the bottom and wall provide a compartment divided generally into opposed first and second compartment portions, the first compartment portion is adjacent the first wall portion and the second compartment portion is adjacent the second wall portion, the first compartment portion is for having first terminals mounted therein for connection to the telephone company wiring and the second compartment is for having second terminals mounted therein for connection to the subscriber premises wiring; a telephone company cover mounted pivotally to the second wall portion and for overlying the entire compartment, the telephone company cover includes opposed first and second portions, the first portion is solid and is for overlying and closing the first compartment portion and the second cover portion is provided with an opening for overlying and exposing the second compartment portion to the exterior upon the telephone company cover being closed, the telephone company cover is for being fastened only to the base, and the apparatus also includes a first fastener for fastening the telephone company cover only to the base; and a solid subscriber cover mounted pivotally to the second wall portion and for overlying only the second portion of the telephone company cover and for overlying and closing only the second compartment portion, the subscriber cover is for being fastened only to the telephone company cover and the apparatus also includes a second fastener for fastening the subscriber cover only to the telephone company cover. Two embodiments of replaceable individual subscriber line modules are included; one module is provided with a lockable subscriber security cover for denying other subscribers access to the individual subscriber's line terminals.

Abstract:

A telephone network interface enclosure adapted to interconnect incoming telephone wiring to subscriber premises wiring. The device, according to one embodiment, comprises a base having a wall circumscribing a bottom portion of the base; the base having a first area containing first electrical terminals adapted to be connected to subscriber premises wiring and the base having a second area containing second electrical terminals adapted to be connected to incoming telephone wiring; a first cover covering the entirety of the base, the first cover being exposed to the exterior; a second cover disposed beneath the first cover, the second cover only enclosing the second area of the base; a cable coupled to the first terminals and located in the first area of the base, the cable including a plug at an end of the cable means distant from the first terminals; a jack means located in the first area of the base and adapted to receive the plug means, the jack means being electrically connected to the second terminals; the first cover removably fastened to the second cover by a first fastener; the first fastener comprising a deformable clip; the second cover removably fastened to the base by a second fastener, whereby the first fastener may be undone to open only the first cover to allow access to the first area of the base only and the second fastener may be undone to allow both the first and second covers to be opened as a unit, allowing complete access to the interior of the base. In another embodiment, a third fastener is used in addition to the first fastener for removably coupling the first and second covers.
