Abstract:

This invention comprises reinforced industrial vaults with segmented knock-outs having a variety of shapes and orientations. The invention also comprises vaults having cast-in cable racks. The cable racks can be electrically connected to the reinforcing elements during manufacture, providing electrical grounding of electronic equipment placed in the vault. Cable channels can be installed at desired locations by selecting a knock-out, removing the knock-out and installing a terminator plate having cable conduits. Cable conduits can have diaphragms that can be removed to provide additional choices for locating cable channels. Cable channels can be provided in a vault in the field, even if the vault has been already installed.

Abstract:

A turbocharger including a turbine wheel having a hub-to-tip ratio of no more than 60% and blades with a high turning angle, a turbine housing forming an inwardly spiraling primary-scroll passageway that significantly converges to produce highly accelerated airflow into the turbine at high circumferential angles, and a two-sided parallel compressor. The compressor and turbine each produce substantially no axial force, allowing the use of minimal axial thrust bearings.

Abstract:

An automatic pilot apparatus, for controlling an aircraft during the execution of a maneuver to capture a predetermined altitude, utilizes an altitude control law formula and signal which define a circular flight path intercepting the predetermined altitude and which result in a normal acceleration force on the aircraft. A signal representative of the normal acceleration force is utilized to generate a predictive pitch command signal which is combined with the control law signal to generate a pitch attitude command signal, thereby allowing the aircraft to smoothly capture the predetermined altitude.
