Abstract:

A gas spring having an internal vibration damper for an air gun charging system. The gas spring including a relatively thin liner which is received within and abuts the elongated inner and/or outer wall of the tubular gas spring. The liner(s) absorbs vibration in the air gun to improve firing performance. A guide sleeve mounted to the outer surface of the gas spring abuts an air gun's tubular compression piston to transfer any vibrations in the compression piston to the liner. A tubular counter-weight is slidably mounted about the outer wall of the gas spring and strikes a forward end of the charging system after the air gun is fired to counter the post-firing recoil.

Abstract:

An air gun including a trigger assembly, a gas spring assembly, and a latch assembly is disclosed. The trigger assembly is moveable between an uncocked position and a cocked position. The gas spring assembly includes a compression cylinder and a piston moveable between an uncompressed position and a compressed position. Movement of the piston from the uncompressed position into the compressed position couples the latch assembly to the trigger assembly and the piston of the gas spring assembly. The latch assembly includes a locking portion that mechanically interlocks with a recess disposed on an interior surface of the piston to couple the latch assembly and the piston together. Actuation of the trigger assembly de-couples the latch assembly from the trigger assembly, permitting longitudinal movement of the latch assembly, which de-couples the latch assembly from the piston of the gas spring assembly.

Abstract:

A damper for an air gun has a gas spring at least partially disposed within a compression tube. The damper includes a damping component contacting the gas spring and the compression tube. The damping component damps vibrations in the air gun when the gun is fired.

Abstract:

A vibration dampening system for an air gun charging system includes a rear guide tube and a forward guide tube that are received within opposite ends of an air gun power spring, and a sleeve that fits concentrically over the power spring. The rear guide tube and the sleeve cooperate to reduce the free length of the power spring allowed to vibrate, which reduces vibration and improves firing performance.

Abstract:

A barrel break air gun includes a pair of opposed, generally planar faces defining a narrow gap between the breech and the barrel. The barrel face includes a circular groove concentric with the barrel bore that receives an annular seal, and a recessed annular land defined between the circular groove and the barrel bore. The annular seal may be either an o-ring nominally disposed within the circular groove, or an annular urethane washer that is slightly radially-compressed when placed into the circular groove such that the inner diameter of the washer projects slightly away from the barrel face prior to closing the barrel breech. In one embodiment featuring the annular washer, the washer's internal diameter is slightly smaller than the maximum skirt dimension of an air gun pellet, such that the pellet's skirt is retained by the washer upon closing the barrel breech.
