’ Several poems are addressed to John Keeper ( a Somerset man ), and some of Keeper's poems are included among ‘Newe Sonets.
An imperfect, undated copy, supposed to be unique, is preserved in the Capell collection ( Trinity College, Cambridge ); it is dedicated ‘To his approved Freinde, Maister Henry Lassels, Gentilman.

Howell was born in Llangamarch, Brecknockshire, Wales.
He matriculation at Jesus College, Oxford on 20 November 1607, obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree on 20 February 1609, his Master of Arts ( Oxbridge and Dublin ) on 9 July 1612 and later obtaining his Bachelor of Divinity ( or Doctor of Divinity degree - the records are unclear ) degree in July 1630....
